I know that the view from the top of the empire state building is the most impressive but it can also have the longest lines. What other places have similar views? i've heard "top of the rock" is pretty decent. 4/14/2011 1:23:24 PM |

Top of the Rock has better views than Empire State in my opinion. At 30 Rock you get to stand directly on top of the roof, you can't do that at the Empire State Building. Also at 30 Rock you can make an appointment to go to the top, thus avoiding long lines. It's also cheaper than the Empire State Building. 4/14/2011 1:26:54 PM |

Best view is actually from ground level, either from the Statue of Liberty, a bout in the Hudson, or across the river in JC. Liberty National golf course there has some spectacular views as well. 4/14/2011 1:42:00 PM |

I worked in Jersey city for a few months. One of the coolest things was riding the light rail home. Excellent view. 4/14/2011 2:29:17 PM |

seriously though- standing on the boardwalk along the hudson in jersey city or hoboken (there's a park there immediately next to hoboken terminal/path). You get an unobstructed view of all of manhattan (particularly if you right around the line btw JC/Hoboken). On the river's edge in Edgewater/Weehawken is pretty fantastic as well- but you might not get the best view of the lower-most end of manhattan from up there. 4/14/2011 3:28:12 PM |

There's a nice little pier off the Jersey City Hyatt that has a good view of the city.
It's like a block from the Jersey City PATH stop. Though, to be honest, get off the PATH at the first stop in NJ (coming from NY) and just walk towards the water. It's a pretty nice area these days.

230 5th has a good 360 view. A little pricey with the drinks though. 4/14/2011 10:12:38 PM |

The top of the MoM is pretty cool in the summer (that Bamboo-esque bar / rest area). Its not overly scenic (you dont see anything of significance), but it's very urban feeling 4/14/2011 10:37:20 PM |

Hoboken on the Jersey side has some incredible skyline views, especially on a clear night 4/15/2011 8:13:06 AM |

I was in some building in Ground Zero right after 9/11 happened but the view was spectacular (minus the tragic scene of events). I can't remember the name of it though. It has a completely glass side to overlook the city. 4/16/2011 11:13:23 PM |

Ferries and water taxis provide pretty good views. You could even take some good pics from the Brooklyn Bridge or DUMBO. 4/16/2011 11:30:28 PM |

Your statement puzzles me, b/c nothing comes to mind. Right after 9/11 occurred there were no buildings nearby that are tall enough to have provided a really good view. More details plz, the mystery must be solved 4/19/2011 1:33:05 PM |
