I am so TIRED of these **** MISTAKES ON THESE ***** PLANES
Quote :
"A plane carrying first lady Michelle Obama had to abort its landing at Andrews Air Force Base after it came too close to a military C-17 cargo plane, according to a senior administration official and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The planes were three miles apart, when they are supposed to be at least five miles apart, the official told CNN.

The FAA is investigating what went wrong, as it is believed to be an air traffic controller?s mistake. It comes on the heels of other recent incidents involving sleeping or distracted air traffic controllers"

When the nextgen system is rolled out, and all aircraft are equipped with ADS-B, most likely the FAA will approve 3 miles.
As for now, nope. Minimum 5 miles, or 1000 feet vertical separation. 10 minutes, and 1000 feet for non-radar, I believe.

so, check out these vortices that come well after this plane passes through the smoke:

now, imagine how big the vortices are for a damn C-17 cargo plane. Enough to fuck up your day were you to fly through them.

Riddle me this, EMCE, will this do anything to promote busting the Air Traffic Controllers' Union?

The logical flaw I am seeing is that if the Union is so powerful that it determines employment rights and favorable scheduling (as are the largest demands of a Union), then why are the schedules apparently so screwed up that they're napping like babies all over the country nightly?

ATC has it rough, one of my buddies is going through that training and its no joke. they have pretty much no room for error. but its still upon pilots responsibilities to do his part. if a pilot fucking does something wrong, its not ATC fault but they have to deal with it. so with those big ass planes like a c-17....sometimes its very easy for them to get off of where they are supposed to be and that means its more than a foot, its a mile off.

cool

I'll forward that to your family when a dozing ATC forgets to maintain traffic separation for you one day because it's totally cool...hard life man, hard life
