Okay, so my company services foreclosed properties for banks. After an eviction is performed people have 10 days to get their crap. After that I get rid of it however I want. A lot of the time people just leave their stuff behind and I end up the owner of a personal mobility scooter or a moped or whatever and I just ride them up to the bar or something until I get bored and sell it on Craigslist. Today I got a 14' john boat.
Obviously I have to get it registered and maybe even have the trailer titled.
Anyone know the process of securing a title for what I guess is considered abandoned property? 5/1/2011 2:34:09 PM |

If 13'11" or less and non-motorized it does not need to be titled. If it truly is 14' then call the NC-WRC or just stop by their office in Centennial campus. They're actually very helpful; the complete opposite of a call/visit to the DMV.

lot of legwork involved. 14' jon boats are really cheap. not worth it imo.
sell it to some tard on craigslist who is unfamiliar with the process, use the money to buy one with a registration if you want one.

I'll see what I can do. Most of the time it's just easier to haul the stuff to the dump, but I have someone who wants to start going through this crap for me (my mom loves it!) so I'll be more patient about getting rid of stuff.
also, I didn't post this at 4am so I really have no explanation for my lack of spelling ability. I think I'm regressing. titling, jon boat. 5/2/2011 8:03:50 PM |

NC-WRC people are awesome. I wish every government-service agency/department was staffed like them. Most helpful, nice, polite, useful customer-side government workers ever. 5/2/2011 9:54:09 PM |

^ Jokes?
Obviously you've never experienced any of their officers out in the field.

Being tracked with a Bloodhound on game lands in the middle of bow season; just to check a license.

I have been to the WRC office many times and they are more than helpful. The last time i was in there, the guy went and printed up a set of instructions that he had written to help me get the title for my boat. This wasnt a government form, but something he wrote up in MS Word to help simplify the process.
And out in the field, I have had nothing but pleasant experiences. Each time i have been checked in a timely unobtrusive manner and then let go on my way. On two occasions i was only warned when he could have written me a ticket. They have been the most reasonable Law Enforcement officers i have encountered.
If they tracked you with a bloodhound to check your stuff, they prob just thought you were suspicious looking and were just doing the job they are paid to do.
I have no problem with getting licence and gear checked when i will be running around on public lands with a loaded gun. 5/5/2011 8:07:06 AM |

Lol if you think they care whether you're on public or private land.5/5/2011 11:04:30 AM |

He said gamelands, so i assumed he meant public, and I hunt public gamelands. I understand that the GW will come after you on private land as well, but you run into them way more often on the public gamelands 5/6/2011 8:19:06 AM |

No; obviously you like to make stupid assumptions. My statements, like those above mine, were in reference to the office staff, which was clearly obvious from the topic of conversation. And yes, I've had run-ins with WRC officers before - sometimes it was a pleasant experience; others not so much.5/6/2011 10:39:59 PM |

^ I don't think he really knows. He has a 12'er or so and I think he wants to get out in Weldon when the stripers are running. I'm thinking a 5-10HP, but I don't really have experience with anything that small so I don't know how it will hold up in the current down there.
