how in the hell do you stay in there longer than 5 minutes

its horrible, theres a posted "15 minute time limit" on the thing but youve gotta be a fuckin MAN to make it that far

i sat in there for 5 minutes and damn near wound up choking to death. Also, everytime you move it feels like spontaneous combustion

never again.

The secret is total nudity

Lets the pores breathe and discourages others

I love the steam room - it's the sauna I can't stand.

You just kinda control your breathing to keep it slow and smooth. And I used to go over the 15 minute limit. Can almost fall asleep in the suckers.

Try taking a cool water bottle and towel in there to put on your head. It's helped me before when i've gotten over heated in those things. Or if you come out for a few minutes, cool down, then go back in.

I love sitting in the steam room after a workout. I've never had a problem breathing though.

Sauna is the dry heat one, right? I love that... have even fallen asleep inside

Last summer sat in one for about 10 minutes at 80 Celsius.

As for steam rooms, they make it difficult to breathe, but I managed 10-15 minutes last summer. There were 4, and they had essential oil scents (mint, lavender, and 2 flower ones). Sat for 3-4 minutes in each one consecutively.

Definitely prefer the sauna.

^^ He's probably referring to cutting weight to make a weight limit for a fight. It's normal to do these type of tactics to make weight and then rehydrate before the fight. Not burning actual fat if that's what you're thinking.

Cover your mouth, and leave a small gap in your hands. You should go to Finland and check out some of the saunas with some real heat. 190F will put some hair on your chest.

Back at NCSU, I could take the heat of the steam room
Breathing was fine

But I couldn't quite stomach the sensation of breathing the salty, sweaty funk of old men sitting next to me.

you forgot to add that while doing this you will be slamming beers and getting whipped with tree branches.

Try doing it in a eucaliptus(sp) steam room. Talk about burning

The same goes for Japan. The unbearable, 190F heat coupled with naked Japanese men doing sit-ups was nearly more than I could stomach.

The steam room makes it easier for me to breathe. Clears my sinuses.

But, I do have some slight asthmatic issues...

Dry sauna sucks. Makes my nostrils hurt.
