Most of the time I listen to last.fm or NPR in the car, but a couple times a month I'll scan through the stations to look for some oldies or something. And it never fails, no matter what time of day, at least 2/3 of the stations it seems are in the middle of a commercial as I scan through them. I thought most stations did commercial-free hours these days?? How can they possibly retain a listener base with this nonsense?

You get what you pay for. Either load a mp3 player or switch to satellite radio.

I knew that would be one of the first responses, and I had already prepared a rebuttal

when I'm listening to AM or FM, and a commercial comes on, I just switch it to XM or iPod or CompactFlash card or Hard Drive

I wish they would bring back the Real Men of Genius commercials.

Where did you get the hard drive? I have a aftermarket kenwood head unit that does ipod and usb hookup. Wonder if it has enough juice to power a portable hard drive.

Some do but not all, normally mid morning. Its a work policy thing for a lot of companies and most stations have learned. Think Office Space.

The new Pulse 102.3 is pretty trill on the commercials.

How much music do you l listen too in the car? I drive for 30 mins to work (my longest drive generally), and I use my one CD and check the radio stations while I am on my way to work. Will it mess up your day if you don't have n adequate music fix or something while driving in your car?
