I love this team's rotation....

Cahill, Gonzalez, Anderson, Braden, McCarthy. Great young studs in the first three. Braden already thrown a no-no.

i have adopted the A's in preparation for a move to the bay area, since i couldn't possibly adopt the giants the season after they won the series.

so uhm... go A's.

It sucks to see Braden out for the year but he was probably the worst of the 4 main starters. Tyson Ross has been doing well filling in for him.

Honestly, $2 Wednesday games when I first moved to the Bay Area was what got me into watching baseball on consistent basis. The As have been a difficult team to root for the past few seasons, but I think they're getting better. Last nights blowout was fun to watch, even in the rain.

And fuck the Giants. Seriously, they may have a great stadium but their fan base is worse than the Yankees

Cahill is becoming a pretty stout pitcher, possible all star this year, but the A's always have good pitching due to that damn canyon they play in. I really wish Oakland would get a new stadium just to make their games more exciting. Games in old Montreal Olympic stadium were more exciting.

Also pretty much one of the easiest things you can do in fantasy baseball is pick up 2-3 of the A's starting pitchers in the late rounds because they are bound to have solid WHIPs and ERAs and be valued lower because no one has heard of them.

^no, they need to build a stadium in Jack London Square or in downtown Oakland.

Fremont fucking sucks and it won't increase attendance at all. The problem with the Oakland Coliseum is that it's an awful part of East Oakland and there's nothing around it, not to mention the fact that the stadium is a total dump. The Giants had the same attendance problems when they were at Candlestick and their new ballpark really helped them out. I think the same thing is feasible for the As, but the ownership has made it clear they want the As to leave Oakland altogether which is really fucking stupid.

stadium shmadium.... this team just doesnt draw enough fans being located in oakland no matter what the stadium is like. the team and the stadium need to move somewhere that will draw a crowd - thats the only way we can start to spend $ like our competition does

when you have a shitty stadium and a team that doesn't win, nobody is going to come watch you play

when the As made the playoffs in 2006 they drew decent crowds. the Giants had the exact same attendance problems at Candlestick and then people starting coming to see them play at AT&T long before they won the world series.

The As have won four world series in Oakland and it's time for them to build a new stadium

Tyson Ross came out with an oblique strain over seven pitches, prolly will go on the DL.

Rich Harden tearing it up in minors already

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/06/20/rich-harden-strikes-out-side-twice-in-first-rehab-start/

anything can happen with this team, but will take a miracle run to make the playoffs. At least theres some glimmers of hope (e.g. - Weeks with hitting coach Rickey Henderson)

Miracle run? The season isn't even halfway over and they are only 5.5 games back.

<------This guy would love to have the As in NC. Or any team for that matter. They would surely draw better than they do in Oakland. Tired of hearing the arguments against a NC MLB team.

dude are you joking? no city in NC could support a baseball team. you know baseball teams play 162 games per season, many during the day during the week, right? i mean i guess the marlins don't have a problem playing in front of no one, but charlotte or raleigh wouldn't do much better i'm sure.

what has north carolina done to "deserve" a baseball team?

during the week, obviously. during the day? not so much. most of the day games are sunday getaway days, which wouldn't be a big problem. i'm not saying NC should have a team really, but i don't know that we don't "deserve" a team. baseball is still pretty big in NC, i could see it working decently

Charlotte is the 15th largest city in the US. I know damn well we would draw as well or better than Miami Tampa KC Pittsburgh Oakland for starters. Look at all the minor league teams in Nc. Nc loves baseball. I don't get the people that think we're joking. A sports loving state with the 11th biggest population would support a team in the triangle or Charlotte. I'll bet more people thought the Canes wouldn't make it either. I guarantee you 20 years ago people would have laughed your face off if you told them Raleigh had a nhl team and they've won a Cup.

what the fuck are you talking about dude? are you just making shit up? here's the A's september calendar: http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=oak#m=9&y=2011

i'll count for you, there's 4 day games during weekdays at home that month, out of 11 weekday games total. that's more than a third of the weekday games. also both saturday home games are day games.

That's an incredibly weird schedule

Usually you get a Sunday afternoon game unless you're Texas or on the ESPN Sunday night game.

Maybe once a year there's a wrap-around series with a getaway Monday game. Any homestand that ends on a Wednesday or Thursday that isn't followed by an off day will be an afternoon game, so twice a month at the most. Fridays and Saturdays are night games, except for the two or three FOX games.

If you're any team other than the Cubs, Yankees or Red Sox and you're scheduling more than two weekday afternoon games a month, you're doing it wrong.

[Edited on August 28, 2011 at 4:42 PM. Reason : I thought moving to San Jose was like a 99% done deal, just Selig getting in the way]
