I'm happy that she's happy, but people who think of pets as children weird me out.

Minkagrl01's Cat Story #81

When my kitty was less than a year old I lost him along Highway 70. We were driving to New Bern and pulled over near Clayton where those three WRAL towers are, someone left the door open and the cat got out. We were far off the highway, thank god, but the cat ran like hell into the woods surrounding the car and was gone! Just gone! I called out to him endlessly, shaking treats and food. Hours later I had to leave without him. He never came back.

Over the next few days I drove back and forth to Clayton, searching for him on WRAL's land. Never found him. I even enlisted the help of some people who lived adjacent to the property, we set up a trap and some tuna and they thought they saw him but they couldn't catch him. About 8 days later, I went back for one more search, just one more time and then I thought I would give up. There was a big storm rolling in and I hadn't seen him since he took off. I searched and searched until it was dark out.

I just gave up. I sat down in the middle of this side road just started crying because I really liked this kitten. He was such a sweet kitten.

After sniffling and tearing up for a few minutes I saw these piercing eyes starting out at me from under a nearby shed. I knew it was him. I threw him a couple of treats and didn't say a word.

Then slowly he started walking towards me and then all of a sudden he took off and jumped into my lap! He was so dirty and thin as a rail. Purring like crazy! I was so freaking happy. I took him home, promised him I would never lose him again and that he would never starve again!

It's been 6 years since that terrible week. And he and I are like two peas in a pod.

That was actually really touching. I don't say that about much, and I'm allergic to cats, but...

When i worked at a vet we had a client that took their dog them to ohio, and the dog ran away. Weeks later the dog showed up, walking along the railroad tracks and right up to the door of the vet office. Poor puppy had four raw paws, but he was home!

I can often read/speak cat

and upon first glance the cat was definitely saying,

"Alright bitch let's do this."

I had imagined the cat followed her to a job interview. I hate it when that happens.

If this was a dog it would be much more touching.

A dog would be like "OMG I'M HOME YAY!"

The cat was just like "So yeah, I'm back. I've been out chilling for a while but now I'm hungry"

cats have a crazy sense of direction. One time, I had a friend that tried to adopt a stray cat at my apartment complex, so she put it into her car and drove to hear house that was over 2 miles away, and when the cat got loose it managed to find its way back to my apartment complex in about three days. What the hell was it doing for those three days?
