Quote :
"A panel of the World Trade Organization (WTO) determined that the requirements of the label "Dolphin Safe" imposed by the United States on Mexican tuna imports violate the rules governing international trade.

This ruling represents a victory for Mexico in the context of the dispute this country has had with U.S. since 1980, when the latter began to interfere in different ways in Mexican tuna imports.

According to the WTO ruling, the label "Dolphin Safe" that the U.S. Government promotes, applicable only for the tuna caught without association with dolphins, has been consistently denied in a discriminatory manner to tuna fishermen from Mexico.

Mexico claims that U.S. "prevents the effective trade of Mexican tuna" in their market by not allowing the use of other labeling endorsed by the International Programme for the Conservation of Dolphins (APICD).

I like finding some dolphin in my canned tuna.

It's like finding an onion ring in your basket of french fries.

From Article VI of the US Constitution:

Quote :
"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding."

they can rule whatever they want. That doesn't mean the US is going to adhere to said ruling. I didn't see anything FTA that indicated that the US would capitulate.

This is sort of like when the UN passes one of those resolutions on Israel and Palestine.

It means nothing now and will continue to mean nothing.
