you could just click and drag a link up to the tab bar to open it in a new tab

or you could just click with the mouse wheel... which is much easier than what you just found.

or i use a laptop and rarely bust out the mouse

ill still probably use ctrl+click to be honest

you can configure different areas of your trackpad to do different actions. go to control panel and customize it. i had it customized so that a light single tap in the lower right corner would open a link in another tab. btw, in chrome, links open in tabs by default. i am sure you can set that in the browser prefs if you use another browser.

btw, using a mouse with a laptop ftw.

i can never get out of my old habit of doing the right click, scroll through the menu and select "open in new tab".

And piece of shit trackpads that are ridiculously small. My 12" netbook has a larger trackpad than my father's 15" Shitpad.

sometimes when I'm moving a window around on Win7 they all the other ones disappear - then I have to drag it back and forth until i recreate the motion to bring them all back

some sort of gesture type control i guess
