Ok t-dub, I want to buy some nice things that will last a while. I'll list out some items and you suggest what I should buy and why. I haven't done any research yet and any suggestions are appreciated.

Bathroom scale
Accuracy is top priority followed closely by sleek clean design.

Mp3 player for running
Still using an old black 8g nano and wouldn't mind upgrading.

Laptop
I kind of want a Macbook Pro but really all I am going to do is look at tww and porn and a nice Dell will do that just as good.

Around a 46" TV
Just saw that Target had one that was 46" Samsung LED for $999. 1080p 120 Hz.

May as well get an Apple TV and see if there's an iFatty scale while you're at it

[/chit chat]

Don't discount Vizio TVs, they're pretty nice and last I checked, cheaper than legacy name brands.

IBM Thinkpad laptops are decent, you can replace anything that fucks up pretty easily and users on here have a decent history of them lasting long. On the other hand if you're just dicking around it could be fun to get a tablet...don't see the need to get an expensive ass-Apple laptop.

If you're getting nice things may as well get a nice girlfriend too

I'll have to check out that Sandisk Sansa, never even heard of it.

As for laptops, all I know is I will never buy another Toshiba. What is consumer reports best laptops in the 13" or 15" area? I want light weight since it will be sitting on my lap while I sit on the couch most of the time.

I wouldn't get a Lenovo.

They are anything but nice. Small unbearably trackpad, shitty reliability and ugly as sin.

My father bought one about 3 years ago. He has had a HDD die on him and now a bearing in a fan is going. What the fuck? Yeah, he can replace it, but he shouldn't have to. Just shit to be honest. Their reliability has fallen off.

I would get a Dell/HP Envy/ASUS for what you're doing.

I am leaning toward a Dell after having such a good experience with their desktop all through college.

Dell has REALLY gone down hill over the years. Don't get me wrong... I'm sure you can find a nice one if you look hard enough. But in my recent experience, dell has started using inferior parts.

Damn, that's not good to hear. My desktop lasted me from 2002 through 2009 without ever having to be reformatted or anything aside from a graphics card which Dell sent me another for free.

shit, I bought a dell desktop in 2000, and it still runs. I never use it because I have since built a much better machine.

about 3 years ago, I bought a dell laptop, and I had problems from the jump. it recently died all together (and this is after about a year of it overheating, shutting off, running slow, etc...). Just do your research, I guess.

I picked up a nice Asus laptop recently. No complaints so far.

^Just go put $67 on a number in roulette. You win, you get an organ. You lose, you still don't have an organ.

Idk what was wrong with your lenovo, i've dropped mine more than once and it still is going strong.
Also I like the red dot thing.

I haven't had any problems with my Dell desktop, but I wouldn't buy another dell - just because they make all their parts weird and non-standard (maybe they've changed this)

I've heard ASUS is good

I've had my dell laptop for a couple of years now. The battery is going out on it, but that is my only complaint. EMCE just downloads too much porn.

Yeah honestly it goes against my nature to admit it but every dell laptop or PC I've owned has stood the test of.time, save a minor issue here and there
