They've just announced some changes for both basketball and football for this coming season... looks pretty solid to me-- some may be disappointed though.

The BIGGEST change is that it appears basketball will be moving to general admission/first come, first serve.

The points look like they actually will make a difference this year... if you're in the top 25% of the points order that have requested a ticket, you will get a ticket (if I read it correctly)

If you don't show up for a football game 5 times in your entire student career, you'll be permanently locked out, 8 times for basketball.

Funny this is this now only pertains to probably 20% of the posters here. But we should try to keep this near the top, as its probably the number 1 thing new posters in ST will look for. We have to appeal to current students. I mean I'm 26 and I feel young here.

I like the General Admission for basketball. I got some shit seats last year even with a high amount of points. I'm glad they finally made the loyalty points worth something though.

The problem with the loyalty point system is that if you get screwed in the very first or second week, you potentially STAY screwed for the rest of the season. That doesn't seem fair.

I knew they would keep the seniority portion of the loyalty points, so it's important for freshmen to get tickets and get there early to cash in on the 45min before loyalty point.

I think they will not have guest tickets if student demand exceeds supply. If they do guest tickets, I think it will just be 1 per student.

You request a guest ticket now and if there are tickets left over for the on demand you should get the guest ticket, however, if you get one and don't want to use it, you have to release your ticket as well. They will only distribute guest tickets after no more students are requesting a game ticket.

Sorry, I guess you can only request a guest ticket when it gets to the on demand phase if there are tickets left over.

I just know it all came from the VT game last year about everyone wanting a ticket for, but it was Parents & Families weekend, so there were lots of guest tickets used. As part of increasing the athletic fee, more student seating was added to the bleachers underneath the scoreboard and that all tickets would go to students first and not guests.

Concerning Guest Tickets:

When the OnDemand timeslot opens up, students will be able to claim leftover student tickets at whatever time it opens. At noon on the day of the OnDemand timeslot, students will be able to buy leftover tickets as guest tickets.


In other words, bid adieu to bringing non-student friends.

I'm not sure if there is a set limit. If there is, you won't know until the OnDemand period. They can't make a set # available per student prior to the knowing how many are available...I'd assume they will stick to 1 since you can bring the rents on the family weekend thing (Georgia Tech).

^noticed that...I kind of think that it's an error. It wouldn't even let me "claim" my ticket, it acted like I just got one in the on-demand phase. Oh well...either way, I got my ticket.

In the link from the OP, it says there will be up to 10000 student tickets available for football and 4500 for basketball...does anyone know how much of an increase, if any, that is from last year? Just curious.

it's within the same system, same kind of lottery, it's like $45 a ticket i think. the request period is like 3 weeks before the game though. Cinncinati lottery opens in a day or two i think, Wake Forest lottery already done.

I'm a grad student, hoping to get a guest ticket for my spouse (FWIW - when I was an NCSU undergrad, I attended 90% of all FB home games therefore I'm not one of those lame grad students who sit down or yell during offense).

My ticket claim page simply says "Claim 1" without the option of adding a guest ticket. Do I just release my ticket, and hope the on-demand page shows up? If this doesn't work, I'll just release my ticket and go to stubhub since the tix there are still pretty cheap.

^I could be wrong, but I think you will be able to attempt to claim a guest ticket during the on-demand phase (in other words, don't release your ticket now). Wait for the on-demand and then you should be able to get a guest ticket...Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Mine was screwy, too. I requested one, and when the claim period started, it initially wasn't yellow so I couldn't make any action on the ticket. I tried again a few hours later, and this time it said "request" instead of "claim" for where you click on the right hand side. I clicked it just to see what would happen, and it eventually just let me claim my ticket.

Basically, shits screwed up. Just try again in a few hours.

Mine says, "reserve" ticket. and i have to physically type in "1" student ticket. but in my "your tickets" it says i've been selected in the lottery and it's waiting to be claimed. if i don't get a ticket because of this i will blow a mothafucka up!

I was a group leader for the past 4 years so this doesn't change a lot for me getting a ticket, however I don't like the guest ticket change. At least some of these non-ACC games should have guest tickets available up front, it's a pain to have to wait and then possibly release a ticket. Will also be interesting, since the people who release one early in the week could free a guest ticket up for someone spamming F5. Although I don't know of a better way to do guest tickets really.

This happened to me all of last year, and its already started this year. I keep getting emails saying that I've requested and picked up tickets, and it happens for every game. I don't need the tickets, because I'm in the band.

It doesn't seem to be hurting anything, but how/why is this happening?
