Raising money to keep the pug alive. The owner is over $26,000 in debt for the dog.
My mommy says I'm worth it. =) 6/22/2011 1:08:27 PM |

let it die and let the owners wallow in debt knowing it was stupid to spend that much money on a damn dog
i love my dogs very much, but anything over $1000 will require some serious debate (and be very dependent on their age and expected quality of life afterward)...not too far past $1000 is the point where i'll put them to sleep
[Edited on June 22, 2011 at 1:12 PM. Reason : easy to say since i'm not in that position, true, but $26k is rediculous] 6/22/2011 1:11:27 PM |

I understand the love of a pet and probably would pay more than people would think is reasonable (^like something around $1000 or so)
but over $26,000?
you must be out of your god damn mind 6/22/2011 1:14:34 PM |

I mean yeah. If you have enough money to sprinkle diamonds on your food you have enough to fix your pets up of anything. 6/22/2011 1:22:41 PM |

The only things I'm spending $26k on is a house, sports car or a boat.
that's just ridiculous. 6/22/2011 1:30:34 PM |

It's not like they got a 26K bill all at once, though.
I mean, if your limit is $1000, how many times would you pay $500? I've spent over a thousand on each of my dogs easy, but that just counts food and toys and regular vet visits and whatnot. 6/22/2011 1:37:39 PM |

that bitch of an owner ain't going to get a cent of my earned money on a dog I'd never be able to pet.

I think 1200 is a waste. Also - I HATE when people call themselves mommy and daddy for a pet.

It's pretty obvious that we're not talking about routine costs for dogs, so to even mention that is irrelevant. I mean off the top of my head I've probably spent between $3500-4000 on my dog in the 5 years I've had him (that includes the cost to purchase him, food, toys, yearly check ups and him getting really sick once). But that's just routine stuff that any person should be aware of before becoming a dog owner.6/22/2011 3:37:51 PM |

Sad, but stupid.
My family has a pug and I love it to death (he's 12), but the breed is truly a product of artificial selection. They have so many health problems, mostly related to their incestuous history. This dog is going to die, whether it's next week or a few years from now, and the owner will have nothing to show for it. 6/22/2011 3:47:05 PM |

yeah, you don't just take the equity out of your home for a dog. shit...sell the house if the dog is worth that much to you. downgrade to a one bedroom (pet-friendly) apt., sell your car, get a 2nd job, sell some eggs/sperm, cut grass, wash cars, sell all of your shit on craigslist. you have options. just don't expect to get free money for a damn dog.
this dog = money pit this person = crazy and obsessed 6/22/2011 3:52:42 PM |

Carbine is an awesome name for a dog!
And my mom has always had pugs, so you got me on the sympathy factor.
But at the end of the day, it's a dog. And getting in $26k debt over it is just plain stupid 6/22/2011 3:54:19 PM |
