I'm often confused by shows/places like this. I mean, the Romans figured toilets out. Are we really saying they're 600 years behind? That they haven't figured out how to fashion a stick into a digging device and get water to flow in a controllable manner down hill? They're good on irrigation, but toilets totally confuses them? Unbelievable.

You could make the argument that clean water is a problem; but you don't need clean water to "flush" with.

^^ good point, but what was the population density of the romans compared with today's india and indonesia?

where can you always get this water from? digging ditches is not easy, but there isn't water everywhere in villages and towns. a huge number of people (100s of millions) have to walk something like 10-20 km daily just to bring water for drinking/cooking/washing. where do you expect them to make those ditches? in the town where they go to get the water?

Rome didn't exist in a an era exploited by global supercapitalism either.

This little issue has always made me crazy, and I'm sure it made someone crazy like 100 years ago.

The world has had years and years to fix this problem, and it hasn't.

At this point, if people are seriously dying or getting sick from this shit, then we all have to admit that it's pretty much on purpose. If you live in one of these places, apparently you should just consider it part of your natural life and STFU.

^Its our fault. We live cheap lifestyles at the expsnse of people who live like this. This is the dark side that capitalists never show you when explaining their great system of resource concentration.

I'm sorta with you, man. But can you provide a link that somehow connects this to "us" and the cheap goods we like to consume?

Cause, I'm saying, this doesn't seem like a new eventuality due to Western influence. It seems like they've been shitting in publichish water forever, right? It's just that the available money/food grew and the population grew, but the shit system didn't evolve, right?

put a cork up your ass, or pay one or more "caddies" in a butler-type situation who can hold back their movements to earn you "shit credits" so you can retire like a sultan
