1. We all know that there is no such thing as a "quota." However, a cop has to give out a reasonable amount of tickets, else he appears to be slacking.
2. Cops make decisions multiple times per day on whether or not to enforce the law. 6/23/2011 1:37:28 PM |

I dont think it's reasonable to write "quota" into law.
But it's perfectly reasonable to see jimbob gave out 50% fewer tickets than the force average during his performance review.
The problem, of course, is that we have established a system where jimbob has a financial incentive to write a certain number of tickets per recording period. Which means jimbob keeps an eye on his ticket count and come end of the month he gets into "average" territory. 6/23/2011 2:11:06 PM |

nobody. but you gotta drive through there to get to work in RTP if you live in fuquay/angier/lillington, and many people make that commute everyday. and if you work in fuquay/angier/lillington and live in Apex or even Cary, you have to go through there everyday as well.
that's how they make their ticket quota. the ole "commuter bonus"

Exactly. There's no "you have to write 40 tickets this month."
No, it's even worse than having minimum pieces of flair. There is pressure to keep up with the joneses, so it's effectively a competition. 6/23/2011 5:24:27 PM |

i used to work at the lowes foods next to the bass lake draft house. when i would be getting off late, these fucking cops would pull me over and say i was swerving, thinking i had probably just come from the draft house. probably got pulled at least 12 times by these motherfuckers 6/23/2011 7:44:46 PM |

Yeah, I've been pulled over several times for "swerving", i.e.; driving late at night. 6/24/2011 12:09:29 AM |

ME TOO.
And the douchebag gave me a citation because one of my license tag lightbulbs was burned out
I had 48 hours to replace the bulb and show up at the police station so they could check it out. Did they? Heck no - just put my ticket in a dismissed pile and sent me on my way. I could have installed a talking fish back there and no one would have cared. 6/24/2011 12:20:22 AM |
