I don't know what that is, but I'm watching Man vs. Food and they were at LB's in Brooklyn and this looks fantastic for a Sicilian pie.

rye dough, sauerkraut and mayonnaise sauce, covered by a layer of swiss cheese, and finally with corned beef on top
sounds disgusting 7/7/2011 10:00:44 PM |

By mayonnaise sauce do you mean 1000 island dressing? 7/7/2011 10:02:04 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148427 Posts user info edit post |
neither belongs on a pizza
and i just googled the ingredients of a reuben, it said either mayo or 1000 island, i dunno] 7/7/2011 10:05:01 PM |

I've never heard of a reuben with mayo on it. That sounds no bueno. I have had a reuben with mustard on it though. 7/7/2011 10:07:32 PM |

either way it doesnt sound appealing to me as a pizza sauce 7/7/2011 10:08:30 PM |

If you think about it, a pizza is nothing more than a baked open faced sandwich
And don't trust anything on about.com. You should know better. 7/7/2011 10:09:50 PM |

i figured they'd at least know sandwich ingredients, i guess i know better now, although the first comment seems to be a better answer
" wanted to use some of our left over corned beef from St. Patrick's Day. My dad prefers an open faced Reuben sandwich, so I modified the recipe to accommodate. First, I toasted the Rye bread, buttered the outside, then Thousand Island dressing, thinly sliced corned beef, sauerkraut, topped with Swiss cheese and broiled until cheese bubbled." 7/7/2011 10:10:46 PM |

whatever NyM410 posted i want in my mouth right now
and yes, i realize how inapprop that sounds
AND i already ate pizza for dinner
and like 75 swedish fish. but i lost like 10lbs recently so my stomach can definitely stretch a little.
and a reuben on pizza sounds gross to me. i'd rather just have a reuben on really good bread. actually the bread is the main reason i'd ever even eat a reuben. BUT i'm interested in seeing the results of your venture!

Man vs. Food is evil. It makes me want to eat things that are terrible for you, like the deep fried bacon wrapped tater tots on the last episode.

I'm thinking I'll make a caraway crust. Make sure to squeeze the juices out of the sauerkraut so it doesn't get soggy. And pile on plenty of meat. 7/7/2011 10:15:29 PM |

i've eaten sauerkraut as a meal before...must be the polish/czech blood in my veins
but draining it first would be a good idea. no one wants a runny pizza. 7/7/2011 10:16:35 PM |

We made it today. It's really tasty!
I made a rye crust with caraway. Let it rise for awhile. Then we used 1000 island as the base and piled on shredded swiss, mozzarella, corned beef, and sauerkraut. I had Harris Teeter slice the corned beef extra thin so the edges would be a tad crispy. Once we took it out we put some pickles on each slice. NOM NOM NOM. 7/10/2011 6:36:19 PM |
