What a jackass. Doesn't deserve 18 years, but trying to pin child porn on someone is worthy of 2 years in the pen and a $10000 fine though.

If he hadn't done stuff to his previous neighbors he might have had a chance at a better deal. Sounds like a real douche. At first I thought maybe he was just justifiably angry and being accused of kissing a kid, but now I think he probably did it.

i find it fascinating that this guy gets 18 years in prison but a woman in DC who blew a .2 and killed a woman and sent another to the hospital (pedestrians mind you) gets 3 years in jail....

I think it's all in the degree of intention, but I agree that's extraordinarily fucked up.

the guy obviously needed to be punished. but 18 years????

vehicular *manslaughter* in that state (Minn.) is like capped at 10 years, right?

at least according my quick google search (and since it is on the internet it is totally legit).

^^^^^, ^^^ It sucks that someone died, but I don't think involuntary manslaughter is much worse than psychologically torturing a family for almost a year. This isn't just one instance of kiddie porn fraud; its a long string of intentional, hateful crimes, each of which carries a jail sentence.

They tried to give him a plea deal of 2 years.

He refused so they added about 5 other charges, most probably felonies.

He deserves 18 years for being a dumbass

^ agreed

Lets pretend the victim was not an attorney with access to computer experts and was charged with possession of child pornography (based on the images being loaded via his IP address). He would have lost his job, had to post bond, spent thousands on a legal defense, and possibly been sentenced to prison.

I wonder how it goes if anyone asks him "what are ya in for?"......"wifi freeloading"

Endlessly harassing them is obviously the best solution to this egregious action

If you don't think vehicular manslaughter is "much worse" than what this guy did (implying it is still worse), then you should still be upset that this guy is getting a sentence that is almost 2x longer than what he would get if actually did commit manslaughter (18 yrs v. 10 yrs).

Really. This guy just fucked with the wrong people. Matt Kostolnik is an attorney. AND he made threats on the VP. The message this court is sending is: don't fuck with people in power. Because THAT is worse than if you actually killed someone.

Goooddd Blessss Amerrrriicccaa.

If he were fucking with a garbage man or bus driver the victim would be in prison and he would be sitting home terrorizing others.

^^its not like he did one bad thing and got sentenced 18 years

if he took the plea deal for making theats to a public official its 2 years. Vehicular manslaughter is 10 years. That seems fair.

Quote :
"Ardolf had turned down a 2-year plea agreement last year to charges related to the Biden e-mail. After that, the authorities piled on more charges,"

but he didnt,

so instead of getting charged just for public threats, he also got charged with

Quote :
"identity theft and two kiddie-porn accusations carrying lifetime sex-offender registration requirements."

Im guessing there are more that he didnt list. Multiple charges = multiple years, which is what you are comparing to a single charge of vehicular manslaughter

[Edited on July 13, 2011 at 10:54 AM. Reason : they give you a plea deal for a reason]
