Folks, I am not technically gifted so please excuse me if this is a easy question.

I have a PC that is in an enclosure. I need to replace this PC. Here are my limitations:

The PC is powered from the wall to a jack, then the jack to the PC. The power from the wall is split black, white, red to the jack, and then the green to the ground in my enclosure. The power supply from the PC is standard coming out of the PC, but going in to the jack, is also split three ways.

There is also an Ethernet biscuit jack where the main Ethernet comes from the wall, and then is also split in the jack. The Ethernet appears normal going from the PC to the jack.

These two are fed through conduit in to the enclosure.

If I want to get rid of the enclosure altogether, what do I do?

Do I have to cut power to both the power supply and Ethernet in order to remove them?

Would I have to cut power just to replace my PC but keep the enclosure?

ahhh this is an embedded system. if you're replacing with a similar system, you should be able to take the case off the wall and remove the power connectors from it. without knowing the specifics of the power supply inside the case, no one can give you accurate advice. disconnect power, discharge the system, and just start taking apart. take pictures to document and feel free to post em here

upon closer look, just unplug the power and red ethernet from the bottom, unscrew the machine from the wall and put in your new machine if it's got the same case/formfactor. otherwise take the enclosure off the wall, open it, and put your new computer inside that, and remount it.

So if I want to just swap out the PC for an exact spec PC, without removing anything from the wall, do I still need to kill power to the jack?

Unplug the power and ethernet

remove it from the wall enclosure.

open the rf shield casing

replace components

close rf shield casing

reattached to wall enclosure

plug power and ethernet back in.

Ultimately, I need to remove the enclosure as well. This will require me to kill power to the unit. I need to replace this :

And the first has the power and Ethernet inside and I can't hire electricians to come out and do the work.

Aren't there just cables running up the mounting already? You mean the power cable just enters the unit and doesn't simply unplug from a exterior socket? Same for the power?

Odd. That seems like a lot of extra work to have had done to begin with.
