it's driving the consumer to be desensitized to promotional marketing
There are only so many days in a row that I will care that the exact same thing is 50% off.
It's the Anti-Groupon.
Discuss.

Desynthesized?
Also, it's kinda like furniture stores that are continually going out of business for, like 5 years.

^^only when you also get two ties, two socks, and two belts as well.
Their idea is that people are only occasionally in the market for these items so if you always have a sell, they won't notice it. They will just be like hmm i need a suit, O LOOK THERES A SELL TIME TO BUY ONE.

I recently bought 8 golf shirts there for around $50.
Might go with a friend to get and split a bogo suit. 7/29/2011 6:38:57 AM |

make sure you budget some $$ for a tailor.
They pretty much default to assuming everyone who wears their stuff is fat.
If you're not, you gotta get that shit tailored to fit a normal sized person. 7/29/2011 9:40:40 AM |

Their suits blow.
Their dress shirts, however, are awesome. 7/29/2011 10:05:46 AM |

yeah, i should say i don't own any of their suits, but the one time i tried a few on when i was suit shopping, the suits that met my measurements drowned me with way too much extra material meant to be filled in by backfat and a beergut.
i ended up getting my last suit at the brooks brothers outlet.
The couple of dress shirts i've bought from jos. a. bank had to be taken in at the sides, but after that they're pretty good shirts.

yeah My dad tells me I should go but those things are all cut for 50 year men to disguise the paunch
I have to go with a Calvin Klein or Boss to get the right cut usually and I've got one or two super nice suits of not department store brands as well back when I knew of a good haberdashery.
If I ever get some good disposable income I plan on getting a fully tailored suit or two. 7/29/2011 10:15:29 AM |

The one time I bought suits there I got a great deal, and for the most part they fit right, but I was told I would have to get something tailored for it to fit properly over my pecs. I'm not trying to sound like I'm built or anything; it made me wonder if their suits were for only ultra skinny or average gut people. I guess it's the latter. 7/29/2011 10:26:36 AM |

I don't wear suits that often. Maybe a couple times a year. I have one navy blue business suit for interviews. One charcoal gray suit for weddings. A blue blazer for casual wear. If you aren't working at a bank or in sales, what do you need all these suits for? 7/29/2011 10:37:14 AM |

I thought they tailored suits for you.
When's their next buy 1 get 2000 suits free deal? My friends when on the 4th when it was 'generic % sale, buy1 get the 2nd for $80', which seemed kinda horrible.
I kinda wish I had to wear suits. But then again, I wish they were air conditioned 7/29/2011 10:43:36 AM |

When Spitzer was Attorney General in New York he sued Jos A Bank for false advertising, basically saying that the "retail price" was complete and utter bullshit because no one ever paid that price, due to the unending stream of Fourth of July sales, Groundhog Day sales, Boxing Day sales, etc. 7/29/2011 11:27:54 AM |
