I'm so fucking Irate right now that I can't even see straight.
Apparently as part of a code review, one of my colleagues decided that they needed to remove two whole function calls from my code, without any replacement or adjustment to the code. Thats right, deleted two functions and made no other adjustments .
And because everything gets run through 15 different proxy calls, I've spent the last 3 hours on a friday night trying to figure out this is the cause of our problems. 7/30/2011 12:23:22 AM |

the infrastructure guys at my job want to move all of our x86 backed vm's to vmdk's on NFS on the internal portion of our cloud. we have ~3000 concurrent internal vm's backed by ~11000 images sitting as raw luns and support other architectures like sparc zones and aix wpars.
not only do any design advantages of this approach tie you completely to vmware, but they also tie you very specific storage vendors. so, yes, we must maintain 2 completely different paradigms in the middleware going forward.
all of this to avoid my solution of moving from fiber channel to iscsi via gpxe because "who's gonna support gpxe?" I dunno, who supports ssh? who supports http? who supports any fucking open standard

You lost me at the 11000 images. Why do you have 11000 images sitting on disk? 7/30/2011 9:53:54 AM |
