I guess it depends on if you prefer quality or quantity. I'll take four quality ones over 1 quality and 5 shitties anyday. Many parks on the list have one or two good coasters. BG parks each have three or four great coasters.

I agree with The E Man. I would take Busch Gardens Williamsburg over Cedar Point. It's one of my favorite parks (I've been to around 80 of them).
I spent a summer working at Cedar Point, and I do love the place, but a good many of their coasters are mediocre to garbage.
Great coasters at Busch Gardens Williamsburg: Apollo's Chariot Alpengeist Griffon (new 2012 coaster??!?!)
Great coasters at Cedar Point: Magnum XL 200 Millennium Force Raptor Maverick
My personal favorite parks and driving time from Raleigh: Knoebels (8 hours) Holiday World (10 hours) Kennywood (8 hours) Europa Park (uhh better take a boat) Busch Gardens Williamsburg (3 hours) Indiana Beach (12 hours and I heard this place sucks now) Silver Dollar City (17 hours) Dollywood (6 hours) Cedar Point (10 hours) Busch Gardens Tampa (10 hours)

Yeah, it is a very boring town. There is Put in Bay, though. http://www.putinbay.com/ There is a Kalahari there too. http://www.kalahariresorts.com/oh/
Plus Cleveland (lol) is an hour away. 8/14/2011 7:09:12 PM |

I like Williamsburg better too, but they are both great. The Europe theme works better than Africa IMO, plus Williamsburg has Apollo's Chariot. Have not been on Cheetah Hunt yet, though.
Williamsburg coaster next year is going where Big Bad Wolf used to be themed to some sort of car race through the Black Forest. It will use the hillside drop toward the river like BBW used to. Has at least one launched section and an indoor building with effects. Allegedly called Verbolten, but they haven't officially announced yet (should within the next couple of weeks).

I hope it's longer in duration than BBW was. I assume it'll be easier on the head. 8/15/2011 12:10:43 AM |

^^ I was just at Busch Gardens Tampa a couple weeks ago. The cheetah hunt was cool. It uses magnetic propulsion several times throughout to launch the cars forward and get the cheetah acceleration. Plus it was pretty fast.
I think my favorite is still the Kumba, although the Sheikra was pretty cool too. I also like the wooden ones but they tend to beat the shit out of you a little. At the end of the night, we got to ride the wooden one 5 times in a row because no one was in line. 8/15/2011 12:54:09 AM |

Ahh, I kind of missed Drachen Fire, rough though it was.
While I do like Cedar Point quite a bit, I wouldn't say it's worth the drive unless you have other stuff to do there. The time I went, we visited a friend at Ohio University and also hit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. But the good coasters there are really good, I will say. But if you're going specifically to go to the park, I'd take the (much) shorter drive and hit Busch Gardens Williamsburg. If you're really jonesing for coasters you can take the long way back and also fit Kings Dominion into your trip. 8/15/2011 10:41:19 AM |

I'll never forget getting off Drachen Fire and seeing a guy just laying laying on the ground flat on his back helpless and disoriented. I think I rode it 3-4 times in a row until my dad finally told me he couldn't do another round. My head was pounding the rest of the day. I don't think I had ever had a headache that bad in my life up until that point. 8/15/2011 10:48:50 AM |

Drachen fire was the best rollercoaster ever. I have a long neck so I just stuck my head forward which eliminated the head bounce problem. Once you get passed that, the ride was pretty frickin awesome 8/15/2011 12:30:15 PM |
