another location thread, mainly curious about the southeast corner

I could throw my hat in the ring for a job in Rochester and would assume I would live somewhere like Portsmouth

I know it's about an hour north of Boston, so it's not completely in the middle of nowhere, but other than it being a cold cold snowy winter, I don't know much about it, so I hesitate to even consider it

Who's been there and what are your opinions?

Not much to say about it. It's a typical New England small city. I've only been there a few times but I had family in Nashua and went there quite a bit. They like their Red Sox, it's cold and people go to small pubs that everyone seems to know each other in... oh and they play pond hockey.

It's actually a really pretty state but there just isn't much going on.

I like NH.

I've been to NH for a business/rock climbing trip and found the people super accommodating and the bars were nice with cute girls. Maine I had the same experience. I could live there.

It's not for everyone. If you love the outdoors and are okay with having limited resources you should be fine. I would love to live there but my husband would hate it.

It's not like Boston or even Raleigh where it has pretty much anything you should need. There might only be one dentist in your insurance network instead of a bunch. There might be one Mexican restaurant and it probably sucks. Stuff like that.

summertime, the sun wont set til like 9-930 at night... winter it sets around 330. prepare for seasonal depression. drove through manchester before and it blew, but Portsmouth is supposed to be much better with beaches etc and its touristy in the summer.
