Any idea how much it would cost? Hurricane threw something on the thing and scratched the ever living shit out of it. Trying to figure out if I should report it ($250 deductible) or just pay out of pocket.

Because I hate uncertainty and wanted a quick answer

But I'm scheduled for an estimate on Wednesday.

Rattle can it. Great excuse for a 2 tone paint job, just don't get that vinyl carbon fiber overlay for it, ESPECIALLY if it's from ebay.

Jesus, what are you about to do to your S2000!?!?!? How bad are the scratches? Do they go all the way down to the primer? If not you might be able to buff them out with a good compound.

And if not don't go cheap on your Stookay, and pay your insurance premium to get it fixed properly.

As much as I want to do something stupid, I think I'm going with your voice of reason, lol. Hopefully I can find the time to polish/buff the area by the end of the week and go from there.

Mask off flame pattern with the scratches included in the unmasked area.
Scuff up paint with steel wool or 200 grit sandpaper.
Paint with copper paint.
Urinate on it.

Bing bang done son. Fucking copper oxidation urine flame on the trunk of your S2k. Nobody has that.

Strip it to bare metal and polish that? Silver on silver.

That works.
As long as nobody has that.
And I can't think of anybody who has that.
Maybe put a nice brushed pattern on it before applying clearcoat.

Most clear coats don't stick to a raw metal surface.

i always wanted to have a car that was "how the grinder left it" finish.

I always thought my jeep bumpers/ step rails were sexier un-painted then painted.
