The republicans want to turn this country into a religious police state and screw the environment and the democrats want to create a full-scale welfare state and strip the people of their rights of political dissent and defense.

No offense, but I can't think of any system where parties, factions or clusters of interests would not emerge. You can look at any elementary school on the planet and see cliques, factions and groups of individuals working together to gain advantages over the rest of their peers. Best we can do is prune and regulate to keep them in check.

It's totally possible. All you would need is for both parties to voluntarily disband, since both parties are guilty of what you mention here.

The most likely scenario is that neither party will disband, but they will change substantially. This is happening in the GOP - the GOP in September of 2001 looks very different than the GOP of today, and I am certain that parties will continue to develop.

In all seriousness, it would take major electoral reform in order to move away from the two party system, which I don't see as being realistic in the next few years.

We don't need to get rid of the parties we just need to get rid of the two party system. We are in dire need of election reform to give other parties a fair shot. Right now, elections are driven by money and the government needs to regulate that. Problem is, the government is ran by these two parties so why would they regulate against themselves? We need a system where every candidate on the ballet gets equal time on mass media and debates. You should have to watch a video (similar to this weekends gop forum) of each candidate answering key questions before you vote.

DUMBA***...how many Republicans have actually killed anyone? People talk like that all the time. If one actually said they were going to KILL someone, they would be arrested and there would be calls to punish teh party.

but only party has actually tried to destroy through corrupt policys, thuggishness, threats, and abuses of power meant to scare people that agree with them. if they went to court, they would be found to be just like the mafia. its true.
