Uhhhh, no. We'll be quartering them at Guantanamo for decades. It's very expensive, in fact. 9/11/2011 5:41:22 PM |

somehow i think that's a little bit too much power for that. 9/29/2011 4:43:03 PM |

Nuclear power is just that... but in the hands of destabilizing regimes and states like Iran, North Korea, etc... They become a weapon to be wielded. These nations assume that all other nations will respect them if they have a powerful enough weapon and make an example of some jackals or some shit. 9/30/2011 1:25:53 AM |

I do want to ask something along the lines of this subject. I wanted to ask if anyone thought it was more important to deal with terror by killing them all as we find them? or should we capture them to put them through a trial in which we ensure they are given a form of due process? 10/3/2011 3:44:15 PM |

The DOD has actually been looking into small reactors for powering bases. No, it wouldn't run the vehicles, but combined with increased electrification it can make a big difference.
But still, if we could just export advanced nuclear reactors to the rest of the world, maybe we wouldn't be fighting wars for oil in the first place.10/6/2011 2:28:17 PM |

Actually DoD isn't looking into small reactors... That would make a military base a huge bomb if it was attacked. On top of that, DoD is actually exploring greener initiatives without the worry of radioactive plumes... 10/7/2011 1:40:00 AM |

That depends. What did you see that demonstrates conclusively that driving up the price of oil played no role what-so-ever in the decision to invade Iraq?
I realize my statement was merely an assertion, I have no evidence beyond a plausible motive and the clear effect. But I suspect whatever you believe is similarly nothing more than assertion. We might never really know all the reasons for invading Iraq. But driving down the price of oil was clearly not one of them.

You asserted the the wars were about oil, and I'm telling you, I was there... It wasn't about oil. When I was there it was about finding WMD's (at the time) that was really thought to be there and toppling Sadam. After that, it was about nation building and building an enduring relationship with Iraq while hunting down all sorts of bad guys who were recruiting for terror, using the havoc to build their crime organization and brothels, and tempering the insurgency. Those bad guys wanted the chaos to endure to establish their footholds. We, along with Iraqi forces, helped prevent that as much as we could.
If you thought it was about oil, you're misinformed and extremely gullible. We wouldn't attack resources just so that the country would stop producing oil to drive prices up... If anything we would just stop trading with them without the fuss of unpopular opinion, military action (which costs a lot) and mass destruction. Not to mention hundreds of thousands of lives. 10/8/2011 6:05:31 AM |

go on finish your thought. You've just said that it wasn't about finding WMD's in the beginning or it never was or something to that extent.
Now why do you think that it wasn't about finding WMDs in the beginning? 10/8/2011 4:11:53 PM |
