I plan on watching but I'm not "pumped."

I was just talking about this yesterday actually - my lasting memory of last season was the scene where Dex is behind the screen and they want you to think there's a chance Deb's going to find out who he is but you know there's zero chance of that happening. Yeah, I just expect that kind of disappointment from now on so anything halfway decent will be nice.

i think they're making a mistake in going into the formulaic "toughest enemy yet" approach once again.

nobody will top lithgow, and the harder they try, the more it'll fail.

Dexter meets Julia Stiles, she ruins the show. The entire Miami police force gets dumber by the episode.

That's about it.


I love this show but MAN, did last season suck. I'm not bitter though, obviously.

The first episode has leaked to the internet. I really liked it. It seems like they are trying to get back to basics this season. Also there are several great guest stars that I assume will be on for the whole season. Should be great.

I watched season 5 yesterday and today.

Good stuff.

Julia Stiles was great, her character was perfect.

Edward James Olmos looks awesome in the trailer. So does Mos Def.

I don't think Season 5 was sub-par at all. It just unfortunately had to follow Lithgow and the amazing season 4. Stiles was fine as well...although it seems like her forehead has gotten bigger with age.

Also...my girlfriend hates Quinn...but I like him. What's everyone's opinion?

I don't fucking have Showtime...but I'm thinking about ordering just to get Dexter for a little while (gf bought me season 5, which we just finished).

^ if you have TWC, they offered me Showtime free for a year about a month ago. It's fucking terrible and I haven't and probably won't watch a second of it other than Dexter for the entire year I have it

showtime has a $25 rebate for new customers going on right now

you just have to send in 3 consecutive billing statements with showtime on it to get the $$

i got showtime for $4.99 a month last year and kept it for the 3 months dexter was on then cancelled it. i got my $25 credit = money maker!

i am going to try to sign up again this time and submit the rebate. we'll see if it works but i also can't find anything less than about $10/mo in my area for showtime

the deals cable companies will run vary by region but the showtime rebate is good no matter what you pay

Just finished watching Season 5. The main thing that bothered me about it besides Julia Styles oogliness was how Dexter murdered two "innocent" people. I can see past Liddy since the first rule of the code is to not get caught. Pretty sure he murdered that redneck at the dock in episode 1 and even his dad didn't give a shit. WTF? Lumen was a good character and Julia Styles is a decent actress but goddamn is she hard to look at.

I wish they would focus on a story where Dexter kept feeling the need to murder innocent people but they want him to be so likeable blah.

^^I feel like she was just a random character... showing that part of him wants to be normal and enjoy his reunion, but his dark inner desire keeps bringing him back. Also, using her to help get dude man under the bleachers was enough for the little character development they gave her. I thought it was a pretty good episode- I found myself laughing more than usual, which I can't say is a good thing or a bad thing.


And I really like this seasons "villain" - really demented!

i think they tried to slip too many updates into the show in one episode... i know the show skipped a year, in hammer time, but it was a whole bunch of OH BTW I DIVORCED THAT BITCH LAGUERTA. they could have done some of that shit more elegantly over the first two shows... it was a little... disjointed.

the show usually covers their bases for the most part, when they investigate the QB guy being missing, won't they check the text records?

since her phone sent the QB guy that "meet me here" text, the blowjob girl's alibi/interrogation could lead the investigation right to Dexter if she claims she had her phone up until she blew him

Yes, I too was perplexed by this. How does Dexter get the sample from under her fingernails if the evidence was overlooked and the case written off as a suicide?
