My uncled died and he has a loaded 2010 Kia Sportage. What is your opinion on this SUV? I was close to getting a Rav4 (not loaded, just basic) but this became option due to him having no kids/wife and my mom is basically in charge of the estate. 10/30/2011 12:02:56 PM |

So you thinking of taking his car?
If you ask me, I am a fan of the 2010+ Hyundai and Kia designs. And the Sportage looks great, very aggressive. But you can get all the functionality of the Sportage from the Optima or Sonata. (unless you plan on taking it offroad) 10/30/2011 12:16:45 PM |

I rented one a few months ago and I liked it except for one thing. It had NO POWER. It was the most car-like "SUV" that I've ever driven (to the point where I almost fell out a couple of times thinking it was closer to the ground). It was ok in normal driving but it got really annoying driving up to Lake Tahoe and not being able to keep speed reasonably. I about got run down by a F150 after I pulled out with what seemed to be plenty of time/space and it just fell on it's face. If you're used to driving a Civic VX or something, it should be good. Otherwise, I'd definitely take some good test drives first. 10/30/2011 6:59:03 PM |

It's better than a rav 4 if that's what you are asking.
4banger has no balls but the v6 isn't bad. The rav 4 also has no balls tho so... Go for it. 10/30/2011 9:09:20 PM |

if you are asking whether to inherit this vs. buy a Rav4, I would think the choice should be pretty clear... 10/30/2011 10:47:59 PM |

Doesn't the Sportage also come with the Turbo, 274hp, I4? Or is 2010 before that came out. 10/31/2011 1:04:28 PM |

I'm rocking the EX model, but you know I wish I could dump the power steering, power windows, power locks, sunroof, AC, and frivolous amounts of torque for a VX model.

come on man AC was a common option. 10/31/2011 11:21:16 PM |

Even if I believed that... I'd still question how many of them still have working AC. I don't usually consider it on the $400-$4000 beater cars I buy and sell. It just makes for a rare surprise when one actually has it. 11/1/2011 12:47:19 AM |

I think the 2010 Sportage was the last of the old generation, which dates from 2004. This would fall into the "good car but boring" category. (Then again the RAV4 is hardly exciting). The 2011+ Sportage is the much improved one.
Kia/Hyundai are definitely making more interesting cars lately. I actually really like the current Elantra (considering one in the near future actually) as well as the turbo versions of the Sonata and Optima. 275 horsepower/26 combined MPG from an I4 and attractive styling. 11/2/2011 12:07:56 PM |
