Another socialist paradise down. Every country that tries to implement socialism or communism comes to same conclusion: without protection of private property rights, you can't have properly functioning markets. Capitalism is the only way out of poverty. I can hear it now: "B-b-b-but what about privilege, it's just not fair!"

Maybe the embargo will be ended soon. I don't think Obama has the balls to do it.

I don't know anyone who still favors central planning.

And most democratic socialists have never favored such a thing and favored the Scandinavian model, which we're apparently still confused about.

while i understand what you are saying, as a relatively out of touch (especially on foreign issues) voting public who, for the most part, are only a decade into the post-cold war mentality of the last 50-60 years prior, i dont know that it's all that surprising. i expect the generation currently growing up post-9/11 to have a much better grasp on the concepts.
