Tonight on FOX live at 9 it will be the only televised fight. Cain Velasquez is the Heavyweight champion defendign against "JDS"

Both fighters are extremely exciting, Cain has excellent wrestling, speed, and stamina. JDS gas tank is not as stellar, but he has the best boxing acumen in the UFC in my opinion as well as the opinion of most fans.

I think it will be the best heavyweight fight in years, and hell if it ends in one round (i fuckin doubt it) you can go on and watch something else because I dont believe they will even air an earlier fight.

I think Cain is going to wear JDS out and win a decision, it will be highly competitive til the middle of the third round when JDS will slow to conserve energy and Cain will turn it on.

Why is this live on network tv? I thought they quit showing live fight sports on over the air networks years ago and put the big bouts on HBO and PPV.

UFC is trying to go mainstream. They will lose a lot of money tonight but they're trying to grow the brand.

they are leaving spike to do all their programming on fox, its a huge move that will pay off big time. this event is solely to get the word out that fights will air on FOX, including Live Ultimate fighter series.

I think its going to be a fan education thing too, which is why they will only show one fight in an hour, plus they explicitly said that they dont want fans to have to choose between this and the Pacman fight

personally i feel title fights should ALWAYS be on ppv. you should pay to see the champ fight plain and simple. but hell i wont bitch too loudly

^^I'm glad to see this though. Just the other day someone mentioned how my generation doesn't know what we missed because the older generations got to see Foreman, Ali, Frazier, etc fight on network tv and didn't have to pay $50 to watch on PPV.

^You still have to pay $15 a month to get those and the movie lineup sucks, so you have to choose, if you want to waste that much money on watching maybe one good fight per month. I'm happy a big fight is finally on network tv.

this is going to be awesome. I think it'll be a HUGE ratings draw too, I can't imagine any sports fan not tuning into this.

If people can be bothered to watch a 4 hour baseball game where nothing happens, I'm sure they can tear away from video games for 10 minutes to watch the best heavyweight title fight of all time.

Biggest ufc event in history tonight this should be at the top. So hyped for this fight.

I think velazquez takes it if he's healthy. Jds is a little too one dimensional, and doesn't really have the one punch ko power that you'd think. Great technical boxing though obviously.

This shit really pissed me off (although its my fault I guess). I definitely thought Fox was airing the whole primary card (assumed such since it started @ 9pm) instead of half an hour of life experiences and shit and then this one fight. I was really amped about henderson v. guida.

Hopefully JDS wrecks him.

man that sounded like a tree snapped in the breeze

im happy for JDS, i cant believe those redneck idiots booed him in the intro like that. i mean, come on

Id still take cain in the rematch, he just chose a bad time to try to counterpunch

im hoping they show henderson whipping clay guida's ass, cuz henderson whooped his ass and is now going to fight frankie edgar for the LW title

guida is not long for his walking papers, he will never get past a fighter of any real elite caliber, fuck that guy

That lightweight division is stacked as fuck. I'm ready to see Cerrone in there doing some business. Lots of good potential match ups.

This is why you should never PPV fight sports. It was still fun to watch though.

these are mexican sports fans we're talking about, no surprises here. it would have been the opposite if it had been in brazil anyway.

Did the brazil crowd actually boo the US (and russian) fighters or did they just cheer their fighters? I dont seem to recall much booing but i didnt watch the event live

Sure ufc is pissed they wanted an epic fight and that completely sucked. Huge waste of millions of $ that fight would have made on ppv. Didn't think Cain would try to trade that much, poor decision

i liked when he caught the kick and went to a knee to attempt a takedown

You just can not use the boxing model in MMA, too much can happen too fast to depend on one fight for a whole hour. ANyone who watches MMA knows excellent fighters can be bombed on in seconds even against the most mediocre of opponents, much less a world class fighter like JDS

im sure theylol never do that again, all that pre and postfight banter was ridiculous, Brock did well but the information delivered to the viewers was nothing we havent seen ad nauseum during the months of lead up. Hell they could have spent the last ten minutes interviewing Alistair Overeem and Brock together rather than spending 30 measley seconds on listening to Dana denigrate his former champion while miraculously disrespecting his current champion by claiming he has no gas and looking like 5 year old throwing a tantrum doing it.

its like now the fans "know" cain velasquez is a dumb fighter and that JDS poorly conditioned bum. Absurd. way to sell the next fight.

Brock was probably thinking to himself "WTF?!" he kinda had to mentally scramble to restore some credibility to the two competitors on Dana's behalf
