I do voice-over for a living and some production. In my home studio I use Adobe Audition on a PC.

I make music as a hobby, I have a little studio, lots of analog synths, a tascam fw1884, and yamaha hs-80s.

I used to be. Haven't done shit in a while.

Ubuntu Studio. Free. Real-time Kernel. Ardour is similar to Pro-Tools in its layout, so if you know it, you're set.

or obligatory

I only record analog. I only listen to vinyl.

Ableton is super easy to work with, but the free versions are very limited (tracks & effects)

Logic is the shit if you have a Mac

I was using Acid before, my laptop got stolen and my PC thats my backup still had Acid on it, I checked out Ableton free for awhile today and liked it, prolly gonna look at a cracked version somewhere.

the adobe was not bad either but not as simplified

^^Would you suggest torrent sites, etc for finding a full, unrestricted version? When I upgraded to a slightly better version (a couple more tracks and effects) for free, i had to go through the whole verification process etc with the serial # before i could even use it....so I assumed an illegitimate version would meet that road block.

Damn i want that full version, but I'm a noob to the cracked software world

Just because it's the best place to put it: GarageBand is the best iPhone app ever.

likewise^ as far as the production side of it.

I'm really interested in getting into the beat making...beat looping, remixing, etc side of things

Anyone on here still do this type of thing?

I have ableton and it appears the only way I can use it(its a VERY detailed program) is with a midi keyboard???

help lol

I wanted to post about AVB networking gear, but that won't really apply here.
