Draw at 12

The 16 teams will been drawn into four groups of four teams each (Groups A to D). Four seeding pots will be created, with the host associations Poland and Ukraine being top seeds. Poland will be automatically placed in Group A as A1, Ukraine in Group D as D1.

The reigning champions Spain will be placed in Pot 1, together with the Netherlands, the team with the highest national team coefficient, as established at the conclusion of the play-off matches.

The other 12 qualifiers have been allocated to the remaining three pots according to their respective coefficients.

Pot 1: Spain, Netherlands
Pot 2: Germany, Italy, England, Russia
Pot 3: Croatia, Greece, Portugal, Sweden
Pot 4: Denmark, France, Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland

Full coefficient list

The draw will start with Pot 1 in order to fill position one in Groups B and C. The draw will continue with Pot 4, from which a team will be allocated to each group consecutively, from Group A to Group D. This procedure will then be repeated for Pot 3 and finally for Pot 2.

Actually, I think the draw's at 2, but ESPN says coverage starts at 12. I'm not sure if it's on ESPN proper, but it's definitely on ESPN3

Excited about Group A giving another underdog a chance to spoil the Euro party.

Soft group and they'll have significantly more rest than their opponents if they can reach the semis: http://www.zonalmarking.net/2011/12/02/euro-2012-draw/

somewhat.... I don't know. Not going to write any checks that Capello can't cash, especially with Rooney suspended.

Paul Ince will, however:

I don't see anything easy about that group, myself. Sweden is always a bogey team, France is a strong side with youthful players and good coaching, and the Ukraine is nothing to turn your nose up at.

I do, however, think that Group A is absolute bullshit.

The one nice thing about this is that it ensure that England will choke in new and more spectacular ways. England does best when they are dogs that no one expects anything from (see: their win against spain last month). They collapse as soon as there are any expectations.

I dont understand this joint hosts idiocy. Couldnt they just have Poland/Ukraine play a 2-leg match to determine who makes it? Wasting 2 top seeds on them is completely laughable.

kiljadn is right, D is not an easy group. The only team to beat the Netherlands (who was FIFA ranked #1 at the time) during Euro 2012 qualifications was Sweden. England has their work cut out for them, not one of those matches will be easy.

B is obviously the most stacked group but I don't see Denmark or Portugal advancing. Lots of good match-ups all around, I'm really looking forward to next summer.

My predictions:

A - Czech Republic, Greece
B - Germany, Netherlands
C - Spain, Croatia
D - France, England

Germany to win it all

I've got two horses in this race. Sadly, Poland and Ireland are not very good horses. At least Poland caught a break.

Honestly, I'm not sure how they're ranked so low. Within the past year they've drawn with Germany & Mexico and beat Argentina & Norway. I guess that's what happens when you lose one game to Lithuania.

Neither one made it to the World Cup, which mostly determines the area of your rank until the next World Cup.

At this point Woy is the better choice, I think. There's rumors of open revolt at Spurs. And we all know 'arry don't believe in proper gameplans.

As an avid Germany fan, I'm very concerned about Miroslav Klose and his health. He has been a stellar force on the pitch for Germany and is timeless out there. He seems to always pull it together prior to every major tournament. He needs 6 goals to break Germany's all time record and I'd love to see him capitalize on the chances that this tournament will present. Loew says he is going to rest the Bayern players as they will only report to camp the day before the Switzerland friendly which is an obvious and wise move due to their Champions League Final. As an interesting friendly but at a very bad time, Holland and Bayern are going to tee it up due to their spat about Robben's 2010 World Cup injury. A club vs national team friendly is a rare treat but what piss poor timing!

England will only make it out of the group stage thanks to their draw. You compare the just announced squad to any of the main European powers and it's laughable.
