Anybody know of a place with a large amount of variety?

I need some old school transparent color bulbs for my tree, and some replacements for my old ass twinkle light set.

Went to Wal-Mart but they sucked.

Naw they got the poor people lights too. I had to get some replacement bulbs from Lowe's earlier this season.

I've been looking for just the traditional strand christmas tree lights and after looking a few places talked to a guy at lowes who says everyone is out because companies and developers are coming in a buying up entire shipments for decorating etc.

Have y'all looked at Target? I was in there last weekend and they still have shitloads of old school lights. Of course that was a week ago now so who knows.

Everywhere I went in Charlotte is cleaned out of the standard clear (white) mini lights.

We got some LED shit that was more expensive and looks kind of weird. I just assumed you could always roll up to Target and get a few boxes for $4 each or something. Not so.

I drove all over town last Monday looking for PLAIN WHITE LIGHTS and everyone was out. Target had shitloads ONE box of a 100 stand left and I grabbed it. The employees at Home Depot and Lowes thought it was odd that they were out of those lights but it's pretty obvious to me that Home Depot and Lowes intentionally kept a low inventory so they can push their ridiculously expensive LED lights on you. You'll notice everyone has plenty of those in stock

I plan on grabbing some LED lights the day after Christmas. Would prefer to have less fire hazardy lights than my current ones.

To me the multi-colored ones look pretty much the same as traditional and that's all I want. Screw boring white lights

If you are just looking for some real cheapo lights, you can check out Big Lots. I have some old lights that have been working for 5 years that I got at Big Lots.

Big Lots is a good suggestion. I feel like I saw some at Ollie's too now that I think about it.

i got in on this deal 2 years in a row: http://archive.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=1621525

essentially, 50-light LED strings (i bought the soft yellow that look like "traditional" white christmas lights, not the blindingly stark white or hurt-your-eyes colored lights) for $2/each

one of the years (last, i think), i got the 100-light strings for $5/box...i LOVE the pearl lights

Do those old school Hallmark motion ornaments work on LED strands?

It's December 12th and you're just now putting up your lights?
