I got this email today and thought I might share, seeing as how so many of us have probably attended more games at Kenan than our "friends" who are UNC fans.

Quote :
"Dear UNC student or employee,

My name is Scott Palanjian and I am a graduate student in Sport Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).
I am interested in understanding the influential factors affecting attendance at UNC football games. In order to achieve this objective, I am conducting a 10-15 minute confidential online survey.

As an incentive for completion, a UNC prize package will be awarded to the winner of a raffle. If you would like to be entered into the drawing for this raffle, please supply your email address at the end of the survey. Your email address will not be used for any other purpose.

By clicking the link to the survey below, you agree to be a participant in this research study:

https://uncodum.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_cGBerle8f5ocY2U

Your participation is voluntary, and you may skip any question for any reason. If you have any questions or concerns about the study, please feel free to contact me directly by email (palanjia@live.unc.edu).

Sincerely,

Scott Palanjian
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill M.A. Candidate, Sport Administration 2012 palanjia@live.unc.edu"

Keep it classy guys.

double post - sorry - but I got to say, I was surprised that they only had options for arriving up to 1.5 hours before game time. I don't know that I was that late to any game I went to this year...

Seriously

As a grad student myself, this is just not cool no matter what college they go to. All you are doing is making it so that the poor guy has to filter all the bullshit answers so that he can get some decent data.

He has it bad enough that his project deals with attendance at UNC football games. It's going to be hard for him to find a decent sample size because last time I checked pine trees and aluminum bleachers don't fill out surveys.

Complete dumbfuck for making this survey even able to be filled out by people without a UNC email address. He deserves what he gets.

Wrong answer. You need to PRAISE how much fun you had tailgating in the hospital parking deck. Don't want to give them any ideas about coming up with some real tailgating options.

I prefer tailgating in the Friday Center and riding a bus for 15+ minutes to get to the game. I think all parking for UNC football games should be done only at park and rides to not interfere with hospital parking.

Some answers I am providing.

Quote :
"What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the facility?"

Too much glare off the bleachers.
Too many opposing fans.

Quote :
"What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the concessions?"

Too few vegetarian options. The smell of all the cooking meat is offensive to vegetarians.

Quote :
"What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the merchandise sales?"

The college experience shouldn't be subject to all this commercialism.

Quote :
"What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the in-game entertainment?"

Chaining up Ramses is a fundamental violations of his rights. Animals should be afforded the same rights as all other living organisms.
Having a dance teams perpetuates a harmful stereotype of women as sex objects.
The cheerleaders should dress more conservatively.

Q7. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the facility?

I believe the seats should be several hundred yards further away from the field of play in order to fully enjoy the game from a wider perspective. They should also be painted red, white and black for a more aesthetically pleasing scheme. This would be to show respect to the students of North Carolina State University. They are so smart over there!!

Q9. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the concessions?
I would prefer more RED meat PACKed into my burgers. I would also like private dining stalls set up for every single fan in order to fully enjoy my meal in the peace and quiet that is afforded in Chapel Hill. I also would like a private bathroom in my private dining stall and hot towels.

Q11. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the merchandise sales?
I would have preferred a large selection of NC STATE jerseys, flags, memorabilia, etc.

Q13.
I'm not familiar with Tar Heel Town, sounds like a children's play set. As for tail gating, nothing compares or even comes close to meeting the high level of expectations I have after attending tail gates at North Carolina State University. You may want to reach out to them for guidance.

Q15.
What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the in-game entertainment?

I would like a giant scoreboard and video display to display NC State games and scores. I think you should dye the live ram RED to make him easier to see and also so that he is covered in much more warrior-like colors. I have no problem with the cheerleaders.

Q17. Please provide any additional comments about why you choose to attend or not attend UNC football games.

I wish UNC had a more athletic team. Also, I think you should create a dedicated NCSU student section with box seats and free beer. This way we could have more show up and could further increase our positive relations with them. They do, after all, represent a very wonderful institution that is highly prized for it's sports and academic programs.

Q18.
How did you typically learn about the football game schedule?

I am able to communicate telepathically with Zargorchun, a being from another solar system a few galaxies away. Ironically, he's a huge NC State fan.

Q20.
To be entered into a raffle for a UNC Athletics prize package, please enter your email address below.

Quote :
"Q7. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the facility?"

Everything about it feels "fratty."

Quote :
"Q9. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the concessions?"

Too few alcoholic options.

Quote :
"Q11. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the merchandise sales?"

There are too few opportunities/outlets to purchase gear if you're supporting teams from other schools.

Quote :
"Q13. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the pre-game activities?"

Tar Heel Town sounds pedantic. The best tailgating experiences I've ever had have been at NCSU. UNC should adopt NCSU's traditional "Ram Roast" event, but in an environment more conducive to dining.

As a sophomore who attended 2 games last season, I didn't care much for the band or PA announcer as they distracted my group's conversations. The concession stands didn't offer enough gourmet food choices, but I'm glad the lines weren't long. blah blah blah

basically i'm a bandwagon faggot who doesn't give a shit about the actual football game

What, if anything, did you like about the pre-game activities?

I really liked that there was a lot of parking in the UNC hospital deck. I think you should set aside some more parking spaces there so we can tailgate in the shade.

Q9. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the concessions?

Not enough vegetarian options. There should be a place to get salads. Baby spinach would be good.

Q11. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the merchandise sales?

Not enough basketball related merchandise.

Q13. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the pre-game activities?

Pre-game would be a good time to raise awareness for humanitarian causes.

Q15. What, if anything, did you specifically like/dislike about the in-game entertainment?

It would be nice if the music were more mellow, like maybe some James Taylor or Coldplay.
