doesn't that require a concealed weapons permit?

Concealing a rifle or shotgun is illegal period. Assuming it has a lid, this is liable to get your ass in trouble in NC. If it has a lock, you should be able to get by, but you are still likely to get hassled.

I'm pretty sure you can conceal long weapons any which way you please as long as they're not readily accessible (of course this is open to interpretation). A lockable case should be fine....kind of like the trunk of your car.

NC does not issue concealed weapons permits. it issues concealed handgun permits and handguns are all it covers.

If you keep the seat up and put the guns there, then they are open and plainly visible. Not a problem. When you leave the vehicle you can drop the seat down over it.
If that locks, then you can have them unloaded, the lid down and locked, and then you would be ok as they are not easily accessible and it would be considered the same as in a trunk.

Guns loaded, and lid down is a NoNo in NC.

I think riding around with a loaded long gun period is a problem. First and foremost, what would be the point? I saw some parking lot elephants and rhino at Target the other night but this isn't Africa.

NRR and maximadriver said it best.

I want one... though I wish it had a lockable lid.

You can buy a lock for it.

Ordered a du-ha underseat box sans lock for my pops. They seem pricy for a piece of molded plastic, but they are supposed to be very sturdy.

Hope it gets here in time for Christmas!

^yeh, but that just locks the seat down. i'd like to have the seats up and still have a lockable lid. when i travel, i put my seats up so I don't have stuff sitting on the seats (leather).
