We did it last year but our house has been packed full and we dont have access this year. It was in Boone and free.

anyone know of any good places to rent for a night up that way? cheap? or anyone not gonna be in town and need a house sitter??

I know chances are slim but any help is appreciated. Planning to go skiing up that way thats why we are looking anything really.

thanks

You could always camp out in your car if it's roomy. I remember doing that a time or two in my poor college kid days

^ i mean, i'm going backpacking in the mountains in january, but i think it's a bit too cold for most folks this time of year, even sleeping in a car

As long as you have a warm sleeping bag it's really not bad. Just don't be a retard like my one friend and think you can just sleep in a fleece jacket outdoors.

We're doing Wintergreen for new years, but the weather looks like it won't be cooperating, i.e. rainy, for any skiing we planned on doing...heads up

I'll be in the mountains off the parkway in VA again for our New Year festivities. Pretty excited too!
