I replaced the battery in a 2004 Accord and now must enter a 5 digit code to get any part of the radio unit to work. The code is printed in my owners manual, however, every time that I input the code, I get the error message. Is there a special way to enter it?

No, I've had to do this a few times. I just enter the numbers when prompted and it unlocks.

open the glove box and look on the sides of it. there may be a sticker there. or under the arm rest.
was the radio ever changed? you may have to take it out, get the S/N and call/goto the dealer and they'll give you the code.
try the VIN # first with the dealer, that may work. ive never been lucky with the vin. 12/24/2011 10:12:53 AM |

Leave it alone, let it calm down. Then go back and turn the key to ON (not start) and leave the key in the on position for 1 hour then reenter code. 12/24/2011 3:36:55 PM |

My guess is that you have indeed been entering the wrong code. It's not uncommon for these stereos to have been replaced due to CD changer failure.
My 2003 Accord has TWO stickers with codes on them for the radio. Because it has been replaced. I've seen this issue several times, and have replaced the radio in another 2003 Accord for a customer. 12/25/2011 12:55:29 PM |

I called in and got a new code. Everything works fine. We were unfortunate that this happened right as we left for Christmas break. Due to the holiday, the call center was closed until today, so we were without radio/CD/anything for 3+ days of driving. FML. 12/28/2011 8:24:23 PM |
