a CRT monitor attached to a WinXP tower seems to randomly degauss itself, it will also go black for a couple seconds, and then come back on. I've tried changing resolution and refresh rates but it doesn't seem to be a fix, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when it degausses.
monitor is attached via DVI to a DVI/VGA dual out video card
is this likely just a monitor failure of an old CRT, or could it be related to graphics hardware or settings? I don't think its anything due to any kind of magnetic interference, as no new hardware has been installed in the area...when its not degaussing the picture is perfect 12/24/2011 1:57:29 PM |

I've had this happen with multiple old CRTs. This is like asking why a 100 year old person keeps pooping themselves. It just kinda happens. 12/24/2011 10:14:35 PM |

Who uses a CRT anymore anyway. Throw it away and get a real monitor. 12/25/2011 1:22:39 AM |
