No thread?

Hipsters making fun of hipsters is actually pretty funny.

continuing to like things that become popular is the new hating things once they become popular.

If you were a member of a highly respected rock band that formed more than fifteen years ago, can you still be a hipster?

unfortunately for sleater-kinney, their largest exposure to audiences was probably opening for pearl jam, which is something kings of leon also did

[Edited on January 7, 2012 at 7:56 PM. Reason : edit: other than people who went to shows to see sleater-kinney exclusively]

^^^ You're probably right about it being their largest exposure, but they made their first splash in 1996, nearly ten years before that PJ tour, and made very well-regarded records all through the intervening years. They weren't some band that snagged one cherry gig and will be never be more than a footnote.

I watched the first three episodes this weekend. Not bad but not that great either. If its the same recurring sketches/characters the entire time, I can see it getting old. The bike rights guy was probably my favorite one so far.

I do like the theme song though.

Portlandia tour coming to Durham (Carolina Theatre) February 22nd

I can think of at least one dude who is going to be stoked at the chance to see Carrie Brownstein in person

I'm not Brian Wilson, but I did sleep at an Outlet Hotel last night.

Also, pasta addiction is a horrible disease.

My older sister has loved to listen to "that kind of lesbo rock" since her teenage years and yet is straight; I also had an appreciation for it, never once yelling at her to turn it down, and wellll~♥

[Edited on December 15, 2012 at 11:59 AM. Reason : She eagerly looked through the Kill Rock Stars catalog.

^^,^^^ Agreed completely. I tried to watch the first episode the other day and really liked the opening bit, but once the show started I realized it was completely unwatchable. I assume that the people that say they like this shit are doing it to be ironic or something.

there are a lot of bad skits mixed in with several good skits. The 3rd season has been very disappointing so far but there was a lot I enjoyed in the first 2 seasons.
