none of them... If it were really that bad that I couldn't continue my normal way of life, the general public would make enough stink to get whoever it is out (either dem or rep), or we would uprise. While I don't like what is going on now in the white house, it isn't enough to get me to leave the country.
I also should note that I would vote republican at this point before I would democrat 1/9/2012 7:13:41 PM |

Maybe in 20 years when china is all green energy and we are choking on our fossil fuels because republicans think this is what the corporations will do if we coddle their balls some more, it would make sense to leave the country.
As it is now, thanks to O'bamas job creating measures, the US is still #1 b 1/9/2012 7:29:58 PM |

Santorum would be too busy burning witches and annulling gay marriages to completely destroy the environment, so I might have to stick around until that day comes.
Bachmann would have made me seriously expedite updating my education and peacing out to Canada. That woman IS crazy enough.... 1/9/2012 7:52:51 PM |

y'all act like the president is king and can just dictate things and they'll happen.
The GOP as a whole is a little scarier than the dems, if only for their unabashed anti-intellectualism-- but our federal government as a whole, regardless of party, acts only in their own best interest and not in the interest of the country. 1/9/2012 8:06:25 PM |

On the surface, sure. But given the current paradigm I would much rather have the president win re-election given that they will likely lose control of the Senate and don't have much of a shot at the House. Much like if Congress was firmly in control of the Democrats then I'd rather have a Willard or Huntsman to provide a bit of balance. Even if we get Willard this time, the Teabagger cooks will force him into signing radical and destructive legislation that he wouldn't consider normally. 1/9/2012 8:16:14 PM |

That tells you something. So-called conservatives will sooner vote for a big government, nanny state supporting Democrat that is likely to keep the wars going.
Let's get real guys. What are you afraid of? Is it Israel? They said they don't need our help. Is it cutting a bunch of spending from the Executive Branch? Is it the potential of ending the Federal Reserve and eliminating the deficit? What makes Obama preferable to Ron Paul?1/9/2012 8:18:15 PM |

None. It doesn't matter who the president is. Both parties are in bed with corporations. It used to be American corporations, but it's slowly becoming global corporations. It's where the money is. If the Republican party has the White House, they will pass some unfair shit because they have the majority, but it'll get tied up in the court system, and never come to fruition. Then the people will get nervous and give the House back to the Democrats to lock everything up like it is now/has been for the Obama term. There isn't/aren't any serious world crisis/wars/threats that is/are going to change anything. Iran can make their threats. They aren't going to do anything...to us or Israel. Afghanistan is getting its pipeline. Russia/China are building their pipeline. No one wants a war. China? They'll have a fucking revolution of their own before they want a piece of us. And them going green? Never happen. India neither. Russia? They're flexing inflated muscle. Even if they side with Iran, it's little more than show.
The best you can do is just make your money, try to enjoy life a little, and think about what you read, because it's coming from biased sources with a financial or political agenda tied to it. All this Democrat vs. Republican bullshit is taking everyone's mind off the reality of the whole thing: there isn't a decent candidate out there on either side. Any candidate that makes it to the big boy table has sold out to reach that point, and they owe enough to enough big-money interests to ever take "the people's" side on any issue.
We got to roll with it.....whatever happens. Republican or Democrat. Fundamentalist wack-job or basketball-loving wanna-be celebrity. 1/10/2012 12:15:06 AM |

I don't care about Paul's views on evolution. He isn't looking to force them on anyone.
I don't want the gold standard, and I am not nearly as extreme of a non-interventionist as he is.
There are some other more minor things, like him being more conservative than I am on immigration, and just generally being more extreme and less concerned with pragmatism than with his ideological purity. I have an overall positive view of him, and want him to do well in the primary, but I don't actually want him to be President. 1/10/2012 1:45:16 AM |

Here's what you're missing:
Every one of the things you mentioned is tiny tiny compared to the real central points of Ron Paul's agenda. I hate to say these aren't important, but on these issues he only shows the same kind of marginal difference as every candidate.
What matters:
He plans to cut $1 trillion from the budget in year one, and people actual believe that he will.
I'm not making a stance as to whether this is good or bad. But just take a minute and think about the federal govt. cutting $1 T of spending out of $14 T economy. This isn't any old difference. This would be a LIFE CHANGING experiment, not just for the nation, but individuals. Believe me, you will feel the effects of it. I know lots of people who will loose their jobs is Paul is elected, and campaign for him!
Comparing views on evolution is rhetorical masturbation by comparison. The relative difference in national outcomes from one candidate to the next is almost always small, Paul would be historic for better or worse.1/10/2012 2:57:46 AM |
