A friend of mine is looking to rent out his house near the corner of Glenwood and Wade. The house was built in the 1920s, but is in great condition. Interested folks can check it out at 710 Nash Drive. There is a sign out front with contact information. I believe he is asking $1800/month.

Hardwood floors in most rooms. Large living room, modernized kitchen. Gas fireplace. Three bedrooms and one full bath upstairs. Half bath and laundry off kitchen. Back yard is a good size for downtown.

The sunroom has been renovated and turned into an efficiency apartment with one bedroom, one full bath, and a separate kitchen/laundry area. He has previously rented this space separately and in conjunction with the rest of the house.

He is looking for responsible, quiet tenants, as the neighborhood is family-oriented. Grad students, young professionals, or a family would be ideal. Party-happy college students would not be a great fit. He was raised in the house, so it holds a good deal of sentimental value to him.

I only rent mine out to irresponsible, loud tenants, as the neighborhood is undergrad-oriented. Undergrads, young service workers, or a group of friends would be ideal. Silence-happy adults would not be a great fit. I was not raised in the house, but I raised a lot of hell there, so it does not hold a lot of special value to me...the memories are all a blur.

(post sounds kind of pretentious when you read it in opposite)

Considering apartments rent for $1500/month down there $1800/month for a house isn't all that bad.

$1800/month for a couple of young professionals is not bad at all

I wish I was in a better place financially right now

Some friends and I paid $1565/month for a rather small 4 br 2.5 bath ten years ago. We were near campus but this house sounds considerably nicer. 1800 doesn't sound crazy.

Is this the same house I tried to rent 2 1/2 yrs ago, only to be told by the owner (through the realtor), that "the plumbing was too weak to handle 4 tenants"?

Haha, really? How am I supposed to know what house you tried to rent 2.5 years ago? I know of no plumbing problems with the house but I was only there once.
