A proper soccer field is about 10 layers of aggregate, irrigation and sod. It can reasonably be expected to take a surveying and grading crew several months to complete. I'd imagine the university just spent at least $1 million on their most recent field.

You guys need to be more reasonable. It takes a lot of money to make a gulag look good in photographs.

I imagine the soccer field itself isn't what costs $750k, or maybe I give the government too much credit.

I'd assume most of that cost is to make said soccer field secure to prevent escapees or attacks. gun turrets, walls, razor wire etc. and about 10 bucks for chalk lines.

That makes sense.

Esp if they are using private contractors, they are probably also having to ship them in and board them up, as well as perhaps shipping in the building materials too.

Or it could be a way to funnel money to secret programs without making it too obvious.
