I hate soccer moms that drive SUVs and think they can run anyone off the road. -1000 if they have one of those school stickers.

I despise mini coopers, b/c people think they look cool in them when they are way underpowered.

I don't like middle aged bald guys who drive miatas because it says hey i'm going through a midlife crisis and want a convertible, but i'm not rich or cool enough to buy a boxster or bimmer.

What is your definition of underpowered? Because neither the Cooper or Cooper S is underpowered compared to the average vehicle on the road these days.

I only judge people that take off their stock bumpers on their hondas, put on aftermarket crap, leaving them primed but unpainted of course, then lower the springs and make sure they pull that unpainted aftermarket piece of shit facia over every curb they see.

Other than that, every time I see a Volt owner, I know they're awesome

I can't speak for the Cooper S but when I was considering the Mini Cooper several years ago and test drove many, I found myself not being able to pick up speed or accelerate for passing, ramps, etc. Coming from a 6 cylinder with at least 200+ HP, anything below that I would consider underpowered and I thought the Mini Coopers were in the low 100s.

It hits 0-60 in the 8s, which is average regardless of it's 115ish hp output. It was probably 800-1000lbs lighter than whatever V6 200hp sedan you're referring to. It's not that I'm saying your opinion is wrong. In fact I actually don't like the Mini and would never buy it. But my reasons have nothing to do with its horsepower (compared to its peers).

I bought a new 2011 Mini Cooper in 2011 after my 2.8 Z3 finally had too many repairs for me to stomach. It was a bridge car as I was planning to get the Volt when it came out in North Carolina. I purchased it because of its very high resale. I put 18,000 miles on it, and traded it in for 21,000. I bought it for 24,000. Pretty awesome resale, as I actually put some money in my pocket owning a new car for less than a year and not being upside down.

With that said, it was not a performer by any means other than cornering. It was mega slow compared to the Z3. I was very dissapointed in the power by the third week, and regretting not getting the S. The Volt, by comparison, feels much faster.

^^ I agree with everything CarZin said about the Mini. Also, it was way too tiny and the front was too cramped for my taste and I didn't feel safe in it at all. I felt like anything could knock me off the road. Even though I know it has great safety ratings.

So after many months of looking at the Mini, I ended up with a used 330ci for around the same price as a Mini new and never looked back. So now you know what I mean when I'm talking HP, torque, and performance that I am accustomed to.

Agree with Pat; crossover SUVs are completely fucking stupid and suck at pretty much everything.


I want a Prius, though...it'll pay for itself in fuel savings with my long work commute, and will be quieter/more practical/more comfortable/more able to clear speedbumps and driveways than my Z06.

...and it will clear the way for something truly mother fucking badass as my "fun" car.
