The windshield wiper motor has died in my 2004 Honda Accord. Trying to save some money by replacing it myself since it doesn't look too time consuming or complex. Where is the best place, local or online, to get good quality parts. Advance auto has 2 listed but I'm not sure of the difference between them since one is remanufactured but cost double the normal one listed.

Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks. 4/3/2012 1:39:42 PM |

Unless absolutely specified by Cardone as brand new, it's remanufactured. That's their specialty. If you read the fine print when you click on each one, you will notice that the expensive one is for the coupe (2 door) and the cheap one is for the sedan (4 door).
The big difference in the price likely stems from the fact that there are a hell of a lot more 4 door Accords on the road than 2 doors and therefore a hell of a lot more cores for them to rebuild.
And yes, there is a difference in a lot of the parts between the two cars; the bodies are almost completely different. 4/3/2012 8:53:27 PM |

Try rockauto, their interactive catalog is very primitive but I've bought at least a couple grand in parts over the years and 95% of the parts are usually half the cost of the advances or oreilly's. Just be sure about your car/engine/trim selections. 4/3/2012 8:53:49 PM |

A bit overkill for a simple windshield wiper motor. 4/3/2012 10:29:52 PM |

LKQ had the cheapest one but it was used. Rock Auto was about $10 cheaper than advance auto but after shipping it was about the same. I ended up just getting it from advance auto since It was similar price and I could just turn the old part in and avoid the core charge.
I got it installed last night but gotta play with the alignment tonight. 4/4/2012 1:44:47 PM |

of course LKQ is used. That's why it's dirt cheap... it is a junk yard, ya know? 4/6/2012 7:53:38 AM |
