from searching the old threads there seem to be a decent number of rec and competitive softball players on here. Looking for some personal opinions on softball bats.

my team plays in a USSSA league and new rules necessitate USSSA 1.20 stamped bats for 2013 and beyond meaning that a lot of players/teams have to buy a few brand new bats. looking to see if anyone here is going through the same thing or has picked up a new bat recently.

I'm leaning towards a Miken MV-1

Just cheat and used the best bats you can find. We do. Its softball. Who cares?

^^along with the new stamped USSSA 1.2 our league also makes each team submit their bats for testing and get another seal put on them that has to stay on the entire season. They've really cracked down this season after finding a few teams had been using shaved bats and other cheating methods.

I thought the whole point of rec leagues was to cheat.

All the goalie equipment I wear in rec league was outlawed from competitive play in 2007.

I used to play in A leagues with all the softball guys and former minor leaguers. Many of them cheated. However, I still use my favorite bat from 2005. http://67.43.10.5:8081/reviews/bat.php?v=Worth&id=111

Still hit home runs and liners. I just retape it once every two years or something. If you go by reviews, go for pop over distance.

I haven't played softball in over a year now, but even when we played four nights a week... I used that same bat. Just get one softball guy on your team and use his bat. I had teammates that bought 3 or 4 bats per year. Crazy people.

from that site. my bat is the synergy flex. going for $300+ used on ebay. im not sure i even paid that for it. lol

If it is from the site I posted it is because they are rolled and shaved (aka illegal). No way in hell I would pay that much for a softball bat though. I had a pretty nice one when I played at my last company and all the older guys made fun of it for being a single wall when they all had the latest and greatest double wall bats. Too bad I had by far the most home runs on our team with my lousy single wall.

If I were looking for a new one though I would look online for a blem. That is what I did in HS for baseball, a simple messup with the paint and they knock a bunch of money off of it.
