I don't really feel like making a thread for every trailer I have snarky comments about so here's one where we can post trailers and hate or praise them. I'll start things off with Magic Mike aka the Channing Tatum Stripper movie that is somehow directed by Steven Soderbergh:

so did they raid Channing Tatum's back catalog of films for old wardrobe costumes? I saw GI-Joe, 21 Jump Street, and Step Up in the first half minute.

^^^ I thought Channing Tatum was actually pretty good in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. But I don't think he's been in much else that has really utilized him well.

He kind of reminds of Vin Diesel in that he may actually have some acting talent (or at least range), but people keep putting him in the same dumb roles.

The trailer for John Hillcoat's prohibition drama Lawless starring Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce and Slave Famous's man-crush Shia LaBeouf:

I'm worried Shia LeBeouf will ruin that for me. Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman will disappear into their characters, Guy Pearce will be fine, but Shia LeBeouf will just be Shia LeBeouf in a costume.

I like the casting, and it's a feast for the eyes, but Baz Luhrmann was a terrible choice to adapt a novel with an already obvious subtext.

this is so fucking great:

The Great Gatsby has a Kanye song in it.

That's all I have to say about that.

Except that it also has Amitabh Bachchan. What the fuck is happening?

I hadn't heard anything about this movie beforehand, but this is a damn good trailer for an action/sci-fi movie:

it's finally here! LOL

Quote :
"This could’ve been such a great movie. I know that James Patterson is something of a shit-one-out a week crime fiction writer (Fact: One of every 15 bestsellers sold in the United States in a James Patterson novel), but I also know that plenty of folks have an attachment to the Alex Cross series. And when you think of replacing Morgan Freeman with a younger model, no one thinks Tyler Perry. Morgan Freeman shits Tyler Perrys for breakfast.
In fact, Idris Elba was originally set to play Alex Cross in the film, but he was booted. Not because of creative differences, and not because of scheduling conflicts. The producers tossed Elba asides because the opportunity to get Tyler Perry arose, and they acted quickly to push out Elba for what they thought would be the more commercial choice (meanwhile, Elba’s star has risen exponentially thanks to “Luther,” Thor, and Prometheus, while Perry’s latest films have soured at the box office).
All well. I guess if you’re going to get Tyler Perry, you need an equally hacky director, which they’ve found in Rob Cohen (Stealth, xXx, The Skulls) and a TV actor as the main villain. How does Matthew Fox look in the role? Amusingly evil, as in: Laugh-your-ass-off bad guy. In fact, he may be the B-movie successor to Vincent D’Onofrio, which means he’s probably about two years from filling the void left by Billy Zane after some Tarantino motherfucker resurrects Zane’s career.
Here’s the trailer. It’s laughable, but almost in a good way."

ditching Idris Elba (a guy with proven chops, well before the movies listed in that quote) for Tyler Perry for this is one of the dumbest moves I've heard of.

Has Tyler Perry even been in a non-tyler perry movie that was worth a damn? And as a lead? Tyler Perry is good at what he does, I won't take that from him. But this is not what he does. It was tough to watch the trailer and not be bias, but he was very unconvincing imo.

Tyler Perry was in Star Trek. And apparently he's making a Sci-Fi movie because he didn't like Prometheus.

^ haha, let me rephrase. Has he had more than a cameo in a non-tyler perry movie that was worth a damn or more than 45 seconds of screen time and two lines?

In the preview, it just looked like Tyler Perry presents Tyler Perry searching for a killer. Idris Elba probably would have played an actual character.

Tyler Perry's continued popularity amazes me. Of the half dozen or so black folks I communicate with on a regular basis, they all despise him.

I heard something about this a while ago and didn't believe it would ever actually exist:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7l3okIqnCg

A kung-fu movie from RZA and Eli Roth starring Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Pam Grier and the hot asian chick from Real World: San Diego...looks ridiculous and awesome.
