Damnit! I go out and finally buy MW3 only to find out my PS3 is having black screen of death issues.

Any suggestions on a fix? I've tried different hdmi cables, different tvs, even used the RGA cables with no success.

yeah just tried booting into safe mode, no can do, output is garbled. Guess I gotta send it in.

no, no yellow light. Just no display on the screen using either hdmi or rga cables. Tried on all the tvs in my place. Did all the stuff that the playstation site says to do, but no display. When there is a display, is all garbled and broken up.

just spoke with Sony. gonna cost 129 to either have it fixed or trade it in for a ps3 slim.

I've already had it fixed one time before, when the blu-ray drive failed, and that was for 150.

Not sure yet but I'm think I'll just have it fixed rather than trade it in.

You know a brand new 160gb ps3 is only 200 bucks right? I can't believe they would charge you to repair the thing. Especially if it's already been repaired once.

Microsoft is just jealous they didn't think of the idea of charging to repair faulty consoles first.

It might be a risk but try checking on Craigslist for people who repair consoles. My 360 got the RROD like two weeks ago and I found a guy who fixed it for $30 in less than an hour. Compared to waiting three weeks and paying Microsoft $100+ it was a no brainer.

The mere concept of consoles breaking so often is outstanding. My old NES still turns on and runs perfectly fine. They just don't make them like they used to.

^Except that 30 dollar fix (reflow) will maybe last you another 6 months if you're lucky. I would sell that thing immediately and buy a new one with a full warranty

Again, game dynamics. The guy advertises on Craigslist but actually works out of a shop complete with an infrared reflow board, warranties on all the repairs too.

Mech Warrior 3 was pretty awesome; one of the last good Mech Warrior games really. Kind of weird to have it on PS3 though, but I guess some people juggle geese.
