And foreign movies i've seen on netflix (brazillian, german, venezuelan, korean) seem to generally have "normal" looking people in them.

Yea the airliners in fucking flat spin because they lost power made pretty hard. That aside, it seems interesting enough that I will give it a shot. Still don't understand how a chemical reaction in a battery could be neutralized by some magical energy killing system. It would be more "realistic" to have everything go down via multiple EMP blasts and then have some traces of technology like they had in Jericho then some "magic" system that turns off basic physics unless you have the Medallion of Light on.

I'll watch this, despite the networks having no balls these days and killing off these shows after one season, which is never long enough to get a good story going and thus dedicated viewers.

I didn't think the first episode was too bad. I went in with low expectations, and enjoyed it for what it is. It's hard to invest too much care into it knowing that it will probably be canceled, but I will keep watching it until that happens.

Tried to lower my expectation to watch this as you all have suggested, but I stopped after 13 mins. My god, this is terrible and boring. I'm sure it picks up, but the premise is really really bad with bad acting.

You mean did they give away the entire premise of the show in the first episode? Nope.

There was some talk of how nobody knew what happened and how physics as we know it had changed and now even batteries don't work anymore, which, to me = magic as a plot device. There's really no real world explanation for why a simple battery with a wire won't light up a light bulb anymore.

And then of course there's the woman with a working computer and internet connection. which like...whatever.
