~3/4 of an acre
- my lawn mower is not an option bc it is dying, so I need you to bring your own
- I used to have someone do it, plus edging, for $30. send me your quote please.
- preferably you would edge it once a month
- this will be a regular (possibly permanent thing) since my landlord will be paying you and wants to incorporate it into our rent.

South Raleigh off of lineberry road (which is off of trailwood)

thank you in advance

I think the yard is closer to a 1/2 acre actually.

$30 for half an acre with BYOM seems pretty low...

I was corrected recently that it is closer to a 1/2 acre.

Once you factor in gas this is a money losing proposition.

i assume it's $30 per...week? every other? certainly not per month...right?

i have ~1/2 acre that i mow/trim every other week...if i haven't skipped a week, it takes about 2 hours from start to finish (including trimming with the weed whacker)...it takes right around 1 tank of gas on the mower and a comparatively negligible amount of fuel in the whacker

knock off a couple of bucks in fuel for the mower and you're down to less than $15/hour...factor in wear-and-tear on the equipment and gas to actually drive to your place it's no better than $10/hour

just putting it into perspective

I doubt the lawn is really a half an acre. That's pretty damn big. I bet if you look up the house on:http://www.wakegov.com/tax/default.htm the whole lot might not be a half acre.

$30 per visit, and it is not very big, just a little bit of lawn on the sides of the house. Tight neighborhood.... so I was way off. Anyway the people doing it before was a business so I don't think I was getting a special price.

Synapse deleted my post like a little bitch.

Worst mod ever. I was being helpful and I will post it again out of the kindness of my soul. Epic Ignoring of Mods.

That site says the plot is .18 acres but id say its closer to a third.

If you have trouble finding someone let me know, I have 3 rental houses in that area and there is a local kid that does yard work for me, he charges like $20 per visit maybe $25 depending on what you need done.

LOL. We go from a 3/4 acre yard, to a 1/2 acre yard, to a 0.18 acre plot INCLUDING the house.

You're pretty bad at eyeball measurements aren't you?

On the plus side for that price you'll have no problem finding someone.

Ask a neighbor? Pretty sure that would be the cheapest.

^^ /ask a neighbor who they use. I suspect you were getting it for so cheap (considering the BYOM thing) because someone was doing houses in your neighborhood.

^ that's what i would do. plus you can get mowers for cheaper than that

Why buy a landmower if you aren't a home owner? I think the one she has is broken and like 30 years old.

^ To save money. Buy it, it pays for itself extremely quickly, and if you don't want/need to move it when you move you can sell it used and come out much farther ahead than if you hired someone the whole time. Especially on such a tiny lot. I bet you can mow a .18 plot with a house in like 45 minutes if it's relatively flat.

Well yeh, buying an old mower and doing it yourself is the cheapest option. If you'll be in this house for a year or more, then it's well worth it.

As far as not doing it yourself, my post above meant ask a neighbor to do it. Odds are one of them won't mind riding their mower a few houses down and cutting your grass for $30/cut.

I can push mow a .2 acre lot with steep slopes/ditches in about 45 minutes. If it were flatter I'm sure it would be much shorter.

Mow time should be measured in beers, not duration

My 1/6 acre lot takes three beers to mow

I had initially put 25 minutes, but then I edited it because I assumed (incorrectly now I see) we were talking about someone who doesn't want to mow the lawn which I'm guessing means lack of experience or interest. I figured it might take them longer than someone who has a routine and I have no idea how the lot is.

with my 1982 lawn mower it takes 1.5 hours to mow the lawn, it is a piece of crap.... I do have interest in mowing my lawn, but I need something that isn't older than me.

Time to mow also depends on the equipment. Most small push mowers are 20" or 21" deck, which does not make for fast. (Regrettably the one I'm bringing is still only a 20". It is, however, from the late 90's, and is *mostly* reliable other than a wonky pull starter.)
