I'm looking for a good pair of noise cancelling headphones.

Of course my first choice were the Bose-15's but unfortunately they created a pressure sensation in my ears that lead to a headache.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Bose%26%23174%3B+-+QuietComfort%26%23174%3B+15+Acoustic+Noise+Cancelling%26%23174%3B+Headphones/9450578.p?id=1218106625357&skuId=9450578

Unfortunately the Bose headphones will not operate at all without the noise cancelling enabled. Does anybody have recommendations for headphones with a noise cancelling option? If not, noise isolating?

That's the effect of noise canceling. Every pair I've tried do this. What is your intended purpose? You may also want to look at noise isolating IEM's. They simply plug up your ears like ear plugs. Great sound quality as well.

neodata686 I have a pair that plug into my ears and they work well, however I'd like to find something over the ear that I can use.

The noise cancelling mode isn't bad when flying, just I'd like to use these headphones at my desk as well. I found the noise cancelling only causes a headache when there is no noise to cancel (aka an airplane engine).

I'm interested in something similar to the Sony's if anybody has experience with them:

I bought the Sony’s a while back and returned them after a week. I could hear a very subtle hissing that my SO’s Bose didn’t have.

For active noise cancellation I don’t think you can beat the Bose over the ear models. I haven’t tried the active cancellation in ear ones.

There are some sets with apps that connect via Bluetooth and let you set different filters for sound quality, some headsets work better if you like to use voice assistants, but if you just want to cancel out background noise the Bose are the best.

Unless you're sure of the noise cancellation capabilities I highly recommend a set that has multiple levels of cancel or at least an off switch.

I used to get headaches on long flights and work sessions. Got a newer set that has 3 levels of noise cancel, and now I'm set. On the low setting I can work all day problem free.

I think I have a variant of these: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-XB950N1-Wireless-Canceling-Headphones/dp/B01MUGEYT7/ref=sr_1_37?keywords=sony+noise+cancel&qid=1554929319&s=electronics&sr=1-37 With nothing playing there is an ever-so-slight hiss, but once bluetooth connects and even if you play a silent track they're near silent.

In Ear Monitors are also a great suggestion... but the best ones need ear scans for custom fit and forget $200.

Got an open box of these for $75 off Amazon. Definitely worth it. eBay has "refurbs" for $55-$60 if you wanna roll the dice a little.

Bose QC35 is the best I've tried so far.

The generally have the best noise cancelling in aviation headsets, too, so I'm not surprised. I'm actually overall not a Bose fan at all; I would never, ever consider buying anything they make for home or car audio, for example. They make very nice headsets, though.

I have a set of the WH1000XM3 NC headphones arriving this week. I've heard/read that the NC on those is pretty awesome. The NC on the cheap ones I bought ^^ is not very good, but I liked the sound quality coming from Beats Studio 3's and liking some extra bass

my daughter had a set of Sony ANC headphones. Hers were the WH-CH700N model, and they were definitely not as good as Bose, although I felt they were pretty decent for the money.

I have the WH1000XM2 and they broke after about a year. The plastic surrounding the head strap cracked and now it'll dislocate when adjusted. It sucks. If you buy the sony's definitely get an extended warranty. Sony basically told me to go fuck myself.

I feel like the Sonys are the primo ones that are recommended by everyone. I bought some Sennheiser PXC 550s a few years ago and they are (still) butter.

Took the AirPod pros on a flight recently and my Sony cans are now relegated to my house. Arguably they have some benefits over the pros but not worth the extra size and although it’s small it’s the only thing that needs usb micro to charge that I travel with.

All of you listen to 1 of 2 things...

1)shitty idiot music

2) morons talking in your greasy ears

why are you spending money on this? it's like buying extra olfactory sensors just so you can slam your face in a pile of cow shit.

Wake up and realize that noise canceling doesnt matter when the people on the other end dont care either.

I've been traveling with both the AirPods Pros and my Sony wh-1000xm3s.

AirPod Pros: Great city headphones for commuting, taking calls, and the gym.

Sonys: Best ANC and AQ for airplanes and music.

I was right behind the wing/engine for my last flight. Engine noise was turrible. Then I turned the NC on my Sony's. Couldn't believe the difference.

Yeah the Sonys are spectacular.

I haven't tried the Bose 700 yet but a few reviews still say the Sonys are better at ANC. I do frequently video chat with someone who has them and the mic noise cancelling is stellar (I can't hear anything around him) and he's always in an airport or coffee shop.

i have severe tinnitus but can't figure out how ANC would help. i use in-ear headphones and any pair that seals good and presses against my ear seems to help.

says the ANC noise makes the ringing less obvious

but the ringing from tinnitus isn't caused by sound waves so i don't see how something that cancels out sound waves would have any effect on the ringing. there is no sound that the headphones could pick up to cancel out.

in my experience, when you turn on noise canceling headphones, you can hear a faint white noise in the back. maybe it's that? I haven't seen him in a while so I don't have a full explanation

Not an authorized seller though. Supposedly amazon had refurbs for $200 plus 34 for 3 year warranty, or another seller i forget who had for 250, and was authorized seller. I think some said this was international version and had to be sent to Japan to fix? Idk. I am hoping anker q20 goes on sale again so i can dip my toe in ANC water. If I like or find worth it, I’d prob spring for a quality model like this

I have both and I agree with this. I really like my Sonys but they were just so bulky that I didn't want to carry them with me all the time. I'm really enjoying the Airpod Pros though. I think the only downside is the battery life.

I have the Jabra Elite 85h headphones. I chose them over the Sony ones because of the better audio quality on calls noted in reviews, the ability to set sidetone volume, and the ability to pair with two Bluetooth devices at once. I've been very satisfied with them. The noise-canceling feature has worked very well on several flights and does a great job of blocking out the noise around me at the office.

how can you tell if headphones work with the MS Teams?

Starting to switch the teams for voice/meetings, and half my team is bitching about their headsets not being compatible with Teams.

how does the software have a hardware compatibility layer? windows just routes the audio stream to the device of choice. the software never talks to the device directly without a special driver for raw audio modes (audio editing)

qc20 finally went on sale again a few days ago, i picked them up. they are comfortable up to a few hours. so far liking them, but i can see how a premium pair would be nice. if i get tired of them i'll prob go for a pair of the sonys.
