sounds like pete rock trying to sue lupe fiasco for using the beat to troy
you can produce and perform the beat all you want, but if you didnt pay for the sole right to it it aint yours
the dude is paying homage to you, shut the fuck up he doesnt have to ride your dick to do it
and also on a mixtape you can use whatever the fuck you want without permission. any beat, any sample.

i'm kinda on the fence on this one
but as far as paying homage, does he shout him out on the track?
i just remember facepalming one time when an EPMD song came on in my car and this girl is like "oh thats that J-Lo beat" 7/11/2012 4:49:11 PM |

he doesnt have to shout him out he doesnt have to do anything
he used the beat and people know what its from. mac miller shouldnt have to dickride

LOL yea that does suck, but the artist shouldnt have to pay for that. Personally i like when artists get creative using the old shit.
and plenty of emcees have used that sample in commercial releases

people who listen to wack ass mac miller probably dont know where its from, you give them too much credit
kids these days dont know shit about older music
they think 2pac was the first rapper

if a producer remixes the original r&b sample, thats fine, from what i understood he just used the beat
i think guys like funk flex have the artists' blessing when he does the same type thing
also, funk flex isnt a white devil

i think this guy is just trying to flex muscle he doesnt have
in my opinion, i mean really. If he were making money off it directly and finesse actually owns the music then i guess hed have standing to sue. this is going to scare artists away from being creative.

maybe he's trying to get his name back out in the public
also he is probably sick of being one of the best emcees ever and having some shit rapper be associated with one of his beats that he produced and that he rapped over
finesse does own it, so he does have the legal right to sue
i think it gets settled out of court
i'm usually on the side of hip hop being about using other peoples shit but if mac miller supposedly blew up from that particular track and finesse didnt get anything from it, he's got a legit gripe
it was a lot more petty when chuck d sued DJ PREMIER for a sample
we're not talking about a legend like Premo, but a scrub like mac fucking miller
there are like 10 rappers with mac in their names who have put in more work
