If you want to give a reply with actual thought in it i might respond. If not, I won't.
This screens out the trolling I get since I am one of the few thoughtful posters on tww. 7/17/2012 6:17:35 AM |

face lives off points inside the arc. I doubt he gets those against us.
He doesn't shoot threes at all. That's our main weakness defensively.
Defensively he is horrid.
He is hopelessly short and has zero depth.
I like NC State vs the spread. This has all the makings of a 30+ point game that might only be a 15 point spread. 7/17/2012 7:17:37 PM |

face All American 8503 Posts user info edit post |
Gay hasn't done much for most of his career but last year he was solid (though overpaid).
Fields was awesome his rookie year but slipped a little last year. Still there's a reason he got a big contract he's one of the top young SG in the league. Needs to improve his shooting a little, but he's a big pickup for Toronto. If they could just get rid of bargnani and derozan they'd be onto something there. 7/20/2012 1:12:35 PM |

how do you feel about all of these NFL players having offseason problems? marshawn, dez, now kenny britt the latest member of the offseason arrest club.
Quote : | "Kenny Britt has been arrested for driving under the influence, according to WUZ Radio in Nashville. Britt and teammate Tommie Campbell were reportedly with a female soldier when they tried to enter Fort Campbell, which is just north of the Tennessee/Kentucky border. Their vehicle was stopped at the gate and the police were presumably called. We'll wait for more details, but this almost certainly won't end well for Britt. He's already had seven incidents involving police since coming into the league in 2009. " |

from the Panthers offseason thread:
Quote : | "One solution is to award negative points for each carry but make yards worth slightly more.
Each carry should have a negative value equal to ~2 yards. That way the RB is not being rewarded for the first 2 yards." |
I'm interested in this system. So how would you set up your league's scoring system?8/9/2012 12:21:26 PM |
face All American 8503 Posts user info edit post |
^ I don't actually use that in my league but it's an idea I've floated before.
I would go with something like
Rushing TD = 3 pts Rushing yards = 0.2 pts Carries = -0.4 pts
So 20 carries for 100 yards and 1 TD would be 15 points
whereas
30 carries for 100 yards and a TD would only be 11 points
You can play around with a little but that's the basic idea. It rewards guys like Sproles who only use ~10 carries to get their 50 yards and penalizes the Frank Gore's who use 30 carries because they just get run up the middle the whole game because their offense stinks. 8/9/2012 1:41:28 PM |

How bout negative PPR to balance it out? Like -.2 per reception? 8/9/2012 1:49:18 PM |

and so a Jerome Bettis in the red zone that runs 2 attempts for 4 yards and 1 TD is -0.8 + 0.8 + 3 = 3 points 8/9/2012 2:00:09 PM |
face All American 8503 Posts user info edit post |
Correct, the idea is to penalize two types of RB's.
1) The Eddie George types who rack up 100 yards just due to a ton of carries
2) The goaline backs who rack up a bunch of 1 yard TD's as they fall down in the end zone
As a result, the guys who rack up high yards per carry and high yardage totals but get benched on the 1 yard line become more valuable. Deangelo Williams shouldn't be penalized just because Cam is a wrecking ball in the red zone. Similarly, Sproles shouldn't be penalized just because the Saints spread the ball around and use 3 rb's.
For Wide receivers I think a better system than giving 1 point per reception is to give zero points for receptions but 1-2 points for a first down. You really shouldn't get a lot of credit for catching a 8 yard pass on 3rd and 12. However, a 7 yard catch on 3rd and 5 is very valuable.
Currently, our league uses 0.5 ppr and nothing for first downs though. Again, they are ideas I've floated but I don't try to rock the boat too much on the scoring system because most people want it to be fairly simple. 8/9/2012 2:19:09 PM |
